Dear Southerners (and, hi, flist, hi!)

Yep, that's white stuff coming out of the sky. No, you shouldn't drive anywhere tonight -- because lord knows we don't know how to salt the roads beforehand down here in Alabama, and we're still a little hazy about sanding afterward ( Read more... )

fandom: 30 rock, life in the south, apparently canadians can be hot too

I can't believe it's snowing down there again!

I love Slings & Arrows. Enjoy!

I know, right?

I'd seen season one of S&A, but only halfassedly. On a rewatch, I got totally sucked in.

Tina Fey is my hero, even though 30 Rock is not as funny now as in S1 and S2.

Take care in the odd weather and good luck on Wednesday. More composition classes?

Yeah, I still like 30 Rock a lot, but it doesn't feel as fresh at the end of season three as it did in the beginning.

One comp class and one late American lit. Not too bad, all things considered. What are you teaching this spring?

I'm on research leave this term so I don't have any real classes. I'm supervising 10 students in their honours history essay in Canadian history which should be fun. I had all of the students in a course last term and most of them are excellent. We only meet 4 times as a group and 3 times one on one. Lucky me! Meanwhile I need to finish my book and start a new project.

The current season of 30 Rock has been enjoyable - better than last year.

Oh, Paul Gross. So hot at times (he was excellent in Eastwick).

My apologies for sending you our snow. Except, y'know, not, since I don't want more.

I wouldn't mind the damn snow if Alabama was equipped (literally) to deal with it. :|

Eastwick looked fun, but I never saw it when it was on. I wish it were out on DVD.

Mom called me today just to tell me you were about to get covered in snow (and to ask me a question about Fringe). She's probably going to call you tomorrow to make sure you aren't burried. :)

Dad's already made the have-you-seen-the-weather? call. Do they think I'm a moron, or do they just have an unhealthy obsession with bad weather?

They just know you tend to spaz when the white stuff sticks to the roads.

I've learned that it's all relative, re: my flailing about snow. When everyone around me is panicky (about anything, really), I tend to be calm, but if everyone else is calm, it's safe to panic. Which is why I'm apparently paranoid about snow when I'm in Kentucky, but down here with the Real Southerners, I'm the one being all handwavey about it, mocking people for rushing the grocery store.

well, I hope the snow goes by fast and easy... (IMHO, it's better than freezing rain/sleet)

we're having a very very mild winter with practically no snow at all. something is not quite right, but again I am not complaining ;)
