Mid Year Report for 2023

Jun 30, 2023 10:17

This year I've read 119 books, broken down as follows:
- 20 normal adult books, which is just shy of my total from all of 2022. I'd like to tell you this is because I've made time to read more, but I suspect it has more to do with my being laid off with a nice supporting side of regularly giving platelets again.
- 13 graphic novels, which blows my 2022 total out of the water. Let's hear it for going back to the library!
- 2 poetry collections, my first since 2021.
- 84 children's books. This total is much higher than the halfway point from 2022 because we started getting books from the library. It's less than 30 away from the 2022 total.

- I've been to two different concerts. I saw both The Magnetic Fields and The Cure with M.

- I've seen three movies, all of which were at the Cinematheque. The first was The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and it was the first movie I saw in the theater since before the pandemic.

- I've finished three television series, all of which I watched with M.

- Written 55 LJ posts, including this one. Almost any number would have been small compared to 2022 when I started the year with 175 straight posts. It was depressed considerably by my January in Hilton Head, when I did virtually no writing, and the subsequent February, where I did marginally more. Although 55 seems low, this is actually completely in line with my historic norms since I started doing mid-year posts with LJ totals in 2010. For most of those years my goal was two posts a week, which comes out to about 55 for six months.

2023 - 55.
2022 - 176.
2021 - 63.
2020 - 76.
2019 - 76.
2018 - 54.
2017 - 46.
2016 - 53.
2015 - 56.
2014 - 112.
2013 - 55.
2012 - 80.
2011 - 66.
2010 - 73.

That averages out to 74 for the first six months of those years, but if you throw out the crazy 2022 outlier it drops all the way to 66. Or you could frame 55 as tied for the 4th worst total in that time, I suppose. Either way, no complaints here.
