Prologue - Where in Canada is cynic51?
Everybody loves a good sequel, right? Eleven years ago I started a series of posts examining my time in each of the 50 United States. The original series went through every Sunday of 2011 plus one in 2012, and has since had eight updates as I knocked states off the list, with five remaining states that I've never been in and two more that I wasn't old enough to remember as of this writing. I'm still on track to finish all 50 before I turn 50, which is great.
At both the original launch and the end of the original series I discussed doing the Canadian Provinces and Territories. The time has come to follow through, for several reasons:
- The list is short with only 10 provinces and 3 territories. I don't have to consider strange overseas possessions or anything like that.
- I've been to 8/10 and 1/3 already, so there's plenty to write about. And no annoying "partial credits" from when I was a baby.
- I'm not feeling ambitious enough to start any of the longer series that I have in mind.
It turns out that I've been to a lot of Canada, mostly as an adult, and have plenty to reminisce about. This should be a nice way to tell some stories for a few months, which means that now I have provinces tag. We'll start next time with Ontario.
Alas, unlike Wakko's States, nobody seems to have written a good song listing all the provinces. There are several terrible ones, which I shall spare you. Now that Animaniacs has rebooted, they should get on that!
