Short Version: Plan to be at my house on Sunday, September 25 at 7:00pm to see Eliza Rickman perform a solo show in my living room!
Long version:
When my friends
yuki_onna and
justbeast got married, their wedding photographer was
kylecassidy, who wrote
Armed America and who has worked with
Amanda Palmer and many others. I had a roughly 12 second conversation with him and ultimately started following him on LJ. Two weeks ago,
he announced that he was hosting Eliza Rickman in a house concert in Philly, and that she was coming from Chicago, and was there anyone in the Cleveland or Pittsburgh area who could host her the day before? One thing led to another, and ultimately arrangements were made. Here are the details:
Who: The amazing Eliza Rickman will be performing a solo set on toy piano, and possibly a real piano if the beat up one in my living room passes muster.
Never heard of her? No problem, we can educate you. Here's the video for her song Black Rose:

You can also find Eliza online at any of these fine places:
TwitterMyspaceFacebookHer official siteThe Kickstarter page for her upcoming full-length album What: House Concert. This basically means that Eliza will set up shop in my living room and we'll jam in as many people as possible to listen. Pragmatically speaking, as many as possible probably means at most 30, but we'll see what we can do.
When: Sunday, September 25. Doors open at 7:00pm, concert at 7:45pm. Eliza will play for about an hour or so.
Where: My house in fabulous Lakewood, Ohio. Specifically, my living room.
Why: Because it'll be fun!
How Much: Eliza will be passing the hat to fund her continuing travels. Your donations to the cause will be greatly appreciated.
Other Stuff: In no particular order:
- The house concert is all ages.
- BYOB. Limited non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be provided by me.
- Hamlet and Tulip will be confined to quarters for the duration of the concert, but if you're allergic to dogs make sure you bring your meds.
I have a
Facebook event up that you can use to RSVP. I tried to invite everyone in the Cleveland and surrounding areas; if you didn't get it let me know and I'll add you. If you aren't on FB, drop a comment here with your RSVP.
Feel free to leave questions in the comments at either place, or send me an email if you have questions.
