*puts hand on heart* FEELS. SUCH FEELS!

Petrushka is perfect for them. I saw it a few years ago and cried my eyes out. I'm an ex ballet rat myself so I geeked out a bit at this scene.

Loved everything else, too, especially the kitten, and Natasha not really knowing what she wants to do for her birthday, and Clint helping her out.

He steps out of the bathroom, toweling off his wet hair, a pair of jeans slung low on his hips, zipped but not yet buttoned.

Allow me to linger on this image... *swoons*

I haven't had a lot of ballet exprience - I did take ballet for four or five years but it was entirely praxis and no real exposure to famous ballets (I'm from a small, relatively rural town originally.) At some point I was given a paper cut-out set of Petrushka featuring the original artwork and stage designs (there were little figures and the backdrops and everything.) So it's the only ballet I have any real familiarity with. I knew I was going to use it for that reason, but had no idea what it was going to do to Natasha and Clint until I reread the summaries and watched some of the Bolshoi's performance. The prompt had called for Natasha to cry - I was NOT expecting Clint to kind of flip the frak out, but he did.

And feel free to linger on that image as long as you like... I thought it was pretty linger-worthy my own self. ;)

::beams:: Thank you! :D I <3 these comments, so much, and I'm really glad you liked it! I love that moment between her and Tony in IM2, I still don't think I've worked out how much of it is Tasha vs. Natalie, but it fascinates me and I loved playing with it (including having Tony kind of throwing it back in her face... and he's not even doing it to be *mean* at all - he's just... actually I have no idea what he's doing and may need to try and write some of it from his POV and see what's going on there. He's got some mistrust things going on to, but in a very different way from Pepper's.)

reclaiming and rebuilding herself from scratch, enfolding what she deems important to who she is NOW and becoming instead of trying to make uncertain pasts fit who she thinks she was.My Tasha can absolutely make the big decisions. She decides to leave the Red Room (twice). She decides to go to work for SHIELD (even before Clint makes the offer). Those things she's got a handle on, just not anything else. I think by the last one she wouldn't ( ... )

I love the idea of Pepper and Natasha as friends, and I think they really can get there, it's just taking Pepper some time. She understands on one level why Natasha did what she did, but this time around she's making absolutely sure she knows who and what she is before she lets her in quite as much. So she still keeps the last name thing as much to remind herself as anything else.

I'm just so, so glad the last part worked with everything else for people. It really was written in kind of a vacuum later because of the prompt fill thing and I was afraid it wasn't going to gel properly with everything else.
