Oh I am so glad I'm not the only one who thought that! When I saw those pictures posted at Keep to the Code, my first reaction was OMGWTFGILLETTE!! 0_0 Now of course it might not be Gillette, but it sure does look like him...

(BTW, the pictures in question are here and here, if anyone wants to have a look. And in this one, that is most surely Groves standing next to Gibbs.)

Hey, I just noticed something - I thought maybe it was an odd colored stocking - but Barbossa has on a boot for computer generated images in post production. Do you think Barbossa might have a peg leg in PotC4?

Also, there are a lot of random dudes in vests, hats, and buckled shoes - they don't seem to be sailors or marines or pirates! Looking at the beech, not only i there evidence of shipwreck, but also of broken-down buildings.

Could this be a town - perhaps Port Royal - after being beset by an earthquake? And those men without coats survivors of the earthquake? Perhaps the dead sailors on the ground were from a ship that had been smashed into the beech by an earthquake triggered tsunami?

Maybe the RN is part of the rescue party? But what is Barbossa and Gibbs doing? Passing themselves off as navy men for some plot related reason? It could work, because as far as we know, neither Gillette nor Groves met Barbossa in canon.

The general consensus is that it's probably going to be a peg leg. So if that's true, it'll be interesting to hear how Barbossa ended up that way. There's also been some rumblings that he might have switched sides (whether for real or as part of a ruse) so I think he and Gibbs might actually be working for the navy. 0_0

And in the first shot, what's that rather yucky-looking pink stuff? I get the idea some large creature got gutted in this disaster.

YES! They look like giant pieces of whale blubber! Perhaps it was a whaling ship that got smashed up? Or maybe another Kraken?

I do think I see Groves and Gillette, 99% sure I think.

If it is Gilette I'll have to abandon my theory that he was lost with the Dauntless.

Considering how many other PotC characters have come back from the dead, no, you're not mad.

If I had to pick one for revival it'd be Norrington- that poor guy never got a break!
