The vids will not show up for me, alas, but I'm sure they're fab as always. And thanks for the reminder, although this is one sabbat I NEVER forget. :)

See? I told you it gets easier by the end of the year ;)

Funny... I didn't change anything.

Magic sounds very reasonable (after all, it's almost Samhain, a night full of magic).

The actual word, however, existed before Judaism, it's Babylonian or Assyrian.

If you enter 'sabbath' in Wikipedia, you'll get either a page with several options and the the general definition

"A Sabbath is a regular (usually weekly) time of rest, worship, and/or special activity, observed by any of several religions and traditions."

or the more specific page that starts with

"Sabbath or a sabbath is generally a weekly day of rest and/or time of worship observed in Abrahamic religions and other practices. Many viewpoints and definitions have arisen over the millennia. The term has been used to describe a similar weekly observance in any of several other traditions; the new moon; any of seven annual festivals in Judaism and some Christian traditions; any of eight annual pPgan festivals (usually "sabbat"); an annual secular holiday; and a year of rest in religious or secular usage, originally every seventh
