... There's a lot that could be said about this. That opening sentence, for starters! And also The three male pirates preferred space karate, which deserves an award. And much more. But I think I'll settle with:

Oh my goodness but you are so freaking adorable. ::squeezes you::

Hee, thank you! *belated*

(Although I think I have to credit Leonard Nimoy for the space karate. I know I definitely yoinked the term from one of the many history-of-TOS books I've read, and I think it was "I Am Spock". *g*)

*squishes you also* ;-)

none of the pirates had moustaches, but he was the only member of the group one would think to define as specifically lacking a moustache

BAHAHAAAAH. I knew I recognised the Brig and Liz from Inferno, but who are all these other people? I suppose Wolverine is the one with the gravity-defying hair? :P

This is hilarious XD

Yup! Wolverine is the one with gravity-defying hair, and you're right about Inferno!Brig and Inferno!Liz... the others are from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (chubby guy with the falcon eyepatch - he's an evil version of Miles O'Brien, DS9's chief engineer, from the ep where they all got turned into James Bond characters in the holosuite) and a one-season show called "The Middleman" that was on in the States a couple years back (tall guy is a tough, grungy mirror-universe version of the show's extremely clean-cut title character/hero, blonde girl is the mirrorverse version of his activist girlfriend).

Basically I just went sort of "pirates - eyepatches - who do I know who wears an eyepatch?" And it snowballed from there.

I'm glad you liked it! :-)

YOU SHOULD.

The ep with the Bond characters (or Bond-esque characters I should say) is "Our Man Bashir", a fairly stand-alone ep from Deep Space Nine's fourth season. It's not the best intro to most of the characters, since they're not quite themselves, but... well, it is a great intro to the goofy side of DS9 (which tends to be either really goofy, in a good "I want these characters to be my fictional family!" way, or really dark in the most excellent tradition of classic sci-fi).

Um, I'm probably not doing a very good job of this, but YES. You should start watching Star Trek. Probably DS9. Try "Our Man Bashir", unless you are the sort of person who is put off by bad science (I am). After that - well, ds9_rewatch is still in the middle of the (admittedly clunky) first season - drop in to one of the live chats some Sunday! Or, um... I'm only partway through the show myself (it's very arc-heavy), so I can't really rec My Top Ten Episodes, but I know lots of people who'd be happy to. :D
