I am in love.

Today, I went to the first bonafide art supply store I have ever been too.  No scrapbooking crap taking up 3 rows, no corner full or yarn, no craft paint and unfinished wood birdhouses waiting for someone to make them country kitsch.  A true art store, full of single servings of pastels, every color of liquitex acrylics, in heavy and ( Read more... )

I thought you knew about the treasure trove that is Cheap Joe's or else I would have told you. Joni and I get all of our supplies there. They do a lot of matte cutting for me. You also might want to try Binders, it's in Cotswold I think. It's a bit bigger than Cheap Joe's and would be a good backup supply store for when Joe's is out of something and you need it right away. I've gone to Hobby Lobby the daqy before a project was due to get a matte cut (my teacher required all of his students' work to at least be mounted on matte board before turning it in) and Hobby Lobby said that it would be a week before they could do it. I went to Cheap Joe's the next day and had a matte cut and had my piece mounted before class started. A lot of times I'll go to Joe's for something just because of the lack of old lady and soccer mom craft type bullshit. Also if you get on their email list they are really good at letting you know about up coming sales.

I knew about Cheap Joe's. I just never went there because its a good twenty minutes away, and because I am poor I tend to buy art supplies just a few at a time. SSo I have a hard time justifying a twenty minute drive for twenty dollars worth of paint or paper. I know about Binders too, just didn't know where it was. However, now that I know where Joe's is and how close it is to Heroes, I can probably get Andy to go there more.
