Don't give up.

This editor didn't tell you it was bad. You can improve, you will Nobody writes perfectly when they first try.

You know how one of my biggest dream is to be a writer, right? Sometimes I have some inspiration and I quite like what I write, sometimes not, it's normal. Even if I sometimes dream that one day, I'm going to wake up, have breakfast like usual, and then turn the computer on and suddenly start writing what's going to be a great novel. It can't work this way, unfortunately. We have to try, we'll fail, we'll learn from those mistakes and we'll have some small successful tries. That's just how life goes, I guess. I know it's really hard, but we have to keep on trying. You like writing, right? Then don't give up on something you like, or you'll regret it. Try your best and you'll improve.

I'm sorry, I rambled quite a bit

I know she didnt but it just poses to me as a bigger challenge than I thought when I first went "Ooh, let me go intern at a magazine" ya know. Hahaha.

I wont give up~ I'll keep learning and improving~ You too~ :)

And dun worry about the rambling. I suppoze most writers might have that tendency. ;)

Such a pretty picture. I think I know how you feel. I used to feel very good about my writing, too, but gradually after meeting other people and doing bigger things, I've completely lost hold of that. I think it is entirely a matter of attitude, though. Don't give up! Write more and more, and I think maybe it won't be a natural talent anymore but you'll be skillful because you worked for it.

Other people will always be better and some people will always be critical, but it doesn't mean you don't have talent in your own way.

Your internship sounds very cool, though! Good luck with your assignments!

I like the way you think. And it's quite true. Coz I was cleaning the other day and I saw some of the most ridiculous things I've writen years back. Ok, maybe not so ridiculous since I grew from that. But you're right. We just have to keep learning and improving through practice. :)

And thanks. The internship gets cooler by the day. When I first started, I din even get any writing. Hahaha.

sayang, different people like different styles and HAVE different styles. so if your editor says not bad, maybe she means your magazine style isn't bad, not your, say, academic writing or fiction.

and secondly, there are a lot of people who THINK they can write (won't name any names here but ask me on msn so i can bitch!) but who srsly canNOT. the fact you recognize your boundaries and are willing to improve already sets you and your bar far higher than anyone else.

<3

and don't listen to benny. when it comes to writing, good is never enough. aspire to be great.

I know but I meant it generally. Coz seriously I think the older we get, our styles differ so much more. And that's plain obvious. But it just makes me think. LIKE REALLY think.

And yea, i DO aspire to be great. :D

the thing is, so many girls write and think they have talent. and the truth is, very few do. it's up to YOU to search in yourself and find out if the innate talent is THERE. and if it's not, you'll have to work harder to cultivate the ability, just like any other talent - piano or dance or whatever. if it IS there, then you still have to hone and sharpen it. :D trust me, so MANY people are like "oh i thought i could write but now i see i can't." it's all subjective.
