Yesterday was my 18th birthday, and I feel like I look 15... Is there anything I can do to my hair to make me look more mature besides straightening it?
dude, whatever. you're hair is gorgeous. don't believe it when people tell you that curly hair looks immature. i bet all those people have straight hair! they're jealous. plus hair has nothing to do with maturity (duh, bet you couldn't figure THAT out, haha). put it up in a nice bun. boom. instant lady. and whatever about the age thing. Im 24 and people still tell me i look 18. it isn't a bad thing.
yeah, I'm 24 too and people think I look even younger than 18. I really have no idea. I don't think I look THAT young. (16 is the average age people guess based on looks)
Cutting your hair short would probably make you look more mature, but clothes have much to do with how mature you look as well. You look more eighteen than fifteen anyway, and eighteen is still really young. You don't need to be that mature yet.
Seriously, you're beautiful so please don't think I'm bashing your personal style BUT... you and I dress in a very similar way with the jeans and the t's under hoodies and I find that I have to make a really conscious effort to wear SOMETHING a little more mature (either some hot shoes or a really sophisticated necklace or a sexy shirt or even intense eye makeup) to balance out the hair and the fact that I'm 22 with the face of a 16 year old
( ... )
Thank you for the advice! I currently have no money, so I can't buy any new clothing or accessories. But I your advice makes complete sense. Most of my clothes I've had since 8th grade-last year... Which is probably part of the reason I look so young. But I'm determined to get a job over the summer and go shopping for some more mature clothes and accessories.
Seriously, I'm always broke so I can tell you for sure that you don't need to go overboard. Definitely get a few things that make you feel good and that aren't too trendy so they'll last you forever. A comfy pair of black heels and a few pieces of simple costume jewelry will never go out of style. I think it's important to still be yourself and wear what makes you comfortable, but adding a little jazz to what you already own & love will make you feel even better.
