My hair makes babies cry

I'm fixing to start college in a few months, and I'm looking for a way to keep my curl, and still have an easy, manageable hairstyle/regime/whatever. Unfortunately, my hair is the kind that you wear sunglasses around because the glare from the ammount of frizz could permanantly blind you. I want to wear my hair curly in college, but I need help, ( Read more... )

get a haircut that "thins" out some of the bulk, but be sure to have it done by someone who's trained in curly hair.

I agree with everything others have written about getting a curly cut and trying a more conditioning method. You might also try braiding your hair in a few big braids when it's damp and sleeping on it. I've found that can sometimes help stop hair from "growing" as it dries.

ok, so i have similar hair but a little less curly - there are these products out there that are kind of a combination of "hold" and leave-in conditioner. obviously the first step is to be really heavy with the conditioner, wash your hair less often, etc.... but i really recommend the bumble and bumble "curl conscious" product - it's hard to find and on the expensive side but it's the only product that really works for me. also, as it dries, twist chunks of hair together (i just sort of absentmindedly do it in front of the computer). don't tie it or anything, just let it airdry. yeah. if you try all those things it might work!

also, your hairdresser can thin your hair out when they cut it, using a razor and cutting underneath (not "layers").

I would suggest just going to a salon and telling the hairdresser that he/she has artistic freedom as long as you can wear your hair curly. That's what I do.

Also, they can give you advice on products. I use Paul Mitchell's The Cream. It's actually for volume, but it doesn't give me more volume. When I'm at school I use Aussie's Hair Insurance Tip Protector. These are both creams. They don't make my hair crunchy, greasy, or anything else bad. I can't guarantee that they take away all of the frizz though. But it could just be that I live in Alabama where the humidity is around 90% all of the time!!
