All right, that's far less scary than the stuff that invades here.

Ooooh, cake! I have a recipe for simnal cake, and Dear Friend H. and I were going to take a crack at it just as the lockdowns began. :-( Was it delicious?

Happy birthday to D_d! S2C is, as ever, wise (and I want a LEGO cat!).

You can see why it is a nice replacement for the forsythia as it gives a splash of yellow, but will flower for longer and is not so solid looking.

You can use most fruit cake recipes for simnel cake, as long as they have a fairly firm batter so the fruit, and the marzipan, don't sink. I usually use my old Mary Berry mincemeat cake recipe from 'Fast Cakes'. I think when you google it these days you get a slightly 'posher' version; back in the days when she wrote Fast Cakes she always used Stork (always referring to it as 'baking spread'), and a jar of readymade mincemeat :)

I love it, because I am a big fan of marzipan - but S2C, D-d et al all thought it was delicious too.

S2C was most taken with the Lego goat - he insists it should be called Mahatma Goat.

When she was born they were a delicate shade of blue - but she is about 12hours old by this one :)

When she first saw this picture, as a three- or four-year-old, her first comment was 'didn't I have big feet!'

Happy birthday to your daughter! And congratulations to your husband, he is a wise one! Wish that my husband were wise, too! When I told him that I´d love to have Lego Hogwarts for birthday or Christmas, he told me that he did not intend to add a new tract to our house, and that was it!

His present choice was definitely a good one.

Mind you, your husband did have a point - they are soon going to need more furniture to display all the Lego on!

She was a real cutie! :)
And yes, I'd love a Lego kit like that, too!

She was a cute baby. A noisy one, but cute!

I do love these complex Lego builds - the whole family tend to get involved, and it can take months to complete something like that. And then they do make great display pieces.
