Here be Dragons - well a dragon, anyway!

We celebrated S2C's mid-week birthday today. It was a quiet family gathering D-d and family came, and Lizzy and wee Edie. We had a sort of rolling afternoon tea - here was the table with most of the food on it -

That is an amazing dragon cake - how beautiful! Love the idea of it being marzipan and chocolate too. *g* And that spread definitely looks and sounds good enough for a wee hoard of hobbits... *vbg*

Thank you! My husband does love a chocolate cake - and marzipan! Molding the head and tail in marzipan makes it a lot nicer than using fondant :)

The dragon cake is magnificent and it's quite the work of art! Your birthday feast looks so good as well.

It just sounds like a lovely family gathering. That's the kind of birthday I like best.

It was a really nice afternoon. I was really pleased with the dragon by the time I completed it - although it took me a while to get the face right.

I thought a Lindor hoard was very suitable as they are some of his favourites, too.
