I'm glad your young manage and husband got the compassionate grounds permission. I often think about people who are far from their loved ones and haven't been able to be with them when they die from this awful virus. So much sadness.

Andrew's dad died at the height of the disease in England. His sister was also in ICU. There was no funeral as such, but a video link :( The family decided to all have their own, individual, outdoors moment at the same time and remember they were all together. So hard for them. Andrew and his mother will be relieved to see each other at last.

If they simply went, without applying for it to be classed as a compassionate visit, they would not be allowed to return as they wouldn't have the paperwork to show they had understood and agreed to isolate in advance.
No wonder your island is doing so well; the authorities aren't afraid to make hard choices.

Our first step to opening up a little is to allow travel between our island and Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands, as their government did much the same as ours and is also covid-free - we will see how it goes!
