I said yesterday that I had been writing something that was out of my usual comfort zone - it simply came to me and forced me to write it down ( Read more... )

I had forgotten when making my post about what crossovers I have read that I'd read at least one (maybe two?) here. And now I have read a story completely set in another verse - and enjoyed it thoroughly. And it does leave one free to decide if all proceeds as in canon or not. Nicely done. :)

Thank you for reading it! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, as it is certainly not quite my usual style. Glad, too, that you've enjoyed some of the Return of The Key stories.

Also - I have just noticed the place where the cat appears to have stood on the keyboard whilst S2C had it and neither of us noticed it!

LOL - I did mean to mention that and forgot. Thought maybe you were writing in Elvish or something. :)

*dashing in*

It's GLORIOUS, and I will comment on exactly why and how it's glorious, in lush and loving detail, tomorrow first thing. Thank you so much for this! *hyperventilating*

Thank you - I am SO glad that you liked it - that it 'fits' with the Théodred/Boromir line. Do, do, come back and comment in glorious detail...

Ah I found it! Oh yes - lots of possibilities there! *g*

At first a re-visioning like this seems daunting, I know. I started off my 'Prince of Horses' story by having Theodred rescue Boromir (and thus avoid his own death as well) and only then realised if I wanted to take the story forward I would have to re-write at least part of the last book to do so - even pushing them partly away from the canon battles still left the Siege of Minas Tirith to deal with. But when you get started working out who did what when and how your story can weave into canon actually becomes quite an interesting task.

Thank you! I think I will leave it here - or I will become too fond of them and try to keep alive this Boromir; who married not only for convenience, but also to give him an excuse to see his lover, and this Théodred; who possibly suggested such an alliance and is, I think, probably the dominant one of the pair. (This Théodred who looks exactly like your icon...)

And I'm not sure if that is happiness enough for Éowyn - marrying only from fear of Grima, quite possibly falling in love with her brother in law...

What if only Théodred or Boromir survived, leaving the other one bereft but not allowed to show it? Although I think my Éowyn would help, there.

If either, or both, survived, would she have ridden to war and slain the Witch King?

See - if I think about it too much I will be lost!

Oh- this is breath-taking. DEFINITELY post it on HASA. I will leave a comment as soon as you do but please send me an alert -OK?
Love the style- it is very clean and simple, perfect for Rohan and you leave it at exactly the right moment - so we know/assume that Theodred is going to die and Boromir. Fabulous.
Love

I was so worried that the baby was going to die, to bring things into line, so to speak, and I can't help wondering what might happen to him...

I actually found it less dark than your warnings led me to expect (except that we know that both men are doomed). Your Eowyn fits well with the Eowyn of the book, determined and resourceful but still with that strange passivity -- taking opportunities, rather than making them.

If everything does now happen as canon, that puts a very different complexion on Eowyn's obsession with Aragorn -- is she 'hiding' the baby from him, trying to get a father for the child, or is she just looking for a 'real' man? I think you should continue!

(My head spins with the implications this has for 'my' canon ;-)

I thought of it as dark because Éowyn marries purely to escape Grima, and finds little happiness in the marriage - her husband almost rapes her the first time they have sex - I felt I was being rather cruel to her! It is not the life that either Boromir or Théodred would really choose, either ( ... )
