funfetti?

Jan 10, 2008 01:49

Has anyone tried to make their own funfetti cupcakes? I am wanting to do this for my son's third birthday, but I feel like the Jimmies would just sink to the batter of the cake mix. Has anyone had any luck with it?

Edit... Err I meant bottom of the cake mix.. not batter of the cake mix.. DUH!

help, funfetti

i have and i thought it was good. i didn't have any problems with the sprinkles/jimmies sinking. if you're worried, maybe you could toss them with a little flour before adding them to the mix?

Are you talking about the cake mix called "funfetti" or are you making your own version, like a white cake with your own sprinkles thrown in?
If you are talking about the boxed mix called "funfetti" I've used it and it works good, no problems.

I was wanting to do my own(not from the box) so that they could just have blue and red in it for my son's spider-man themed bday. and I just wasn't sure if the jimmies would sink or not.

I've made homemade funfetti cake and it turned out great! No sinking what so ever. :)

My advice is once you fill the papers with the cake mix, sprinkle the jimmies over the top and stir them around with a toothpick.

Tossing them in flour is supposed to make a difference in whether they sink.
