The agent (yes, agent, because teenagers discovering their powers in a very public way is a cause for the Illustra government create an official division and rank for people who dealt with it) had given him a word of warning when he’d dropped him off at the school. Apparently, he should be prepared, because some of the students had been raised knowing they had magic all their life and thus their mentality and behaviour might seem a bit strange to Baekhyun at first. But, from what he saw, they all seemed relatively normal, even if they were made to wear strange grey coloured robes and the school looked like a lair described out of a romantic novel about vampires.
Like the guy he was sitting beside in the opening ceremony now. They’d met at the entrance where Baekhyun had stood there awkwardly for eons before he’d very cheerfully come to help and put any fears and unease to rest by helpfully showing him the way to the main hall. He’d was very friendly, quipping at Baekhyun about all sorts of useful pieces of information about the school and the teachers who all came to introduce themselves to the students during the ceremony. He didn’t really understand half of what was being said, but the point was that with this guy at his side he thought that maybe he might make it through first day of school without any embarrassing repeats of glowing.
What was the guy’s name again?
Oh right, Chanyeol.
The only strange thing about this guy, Baekhyun thought, was that he seemed to fidget around a lot, scratching at his robes. Maybe he hadn’t bathed in the morning, rushing to the first day of school or something - his hair certainly seemed to indicate a lack of hygiene.
No sooner than Baekhyun had this thought, Chanyeol suddenly broke off mid-sentence, letting loose a shriek before jumping to his feet and pulling off his robes.
“Oh my God… how can you guys stand to wear those things without even trying to scratch? I swear, the wool of these robes is so scratchy I have cross-hatch patterns on my privates now.”
Baekhyun stares, probably because his brain is struggling to comprehend that the nice, normal guy who helped him when he was lost was standing in the middle of the entire cohort in nothing but his birthday suit.
“Well, screw these.” Chanyeol strikes a pose happily and Baekhyun can’t help but stare when certain parts of Chanyeol’s body sway and bounce with the movement. Chanyeol then throws the robes high into the air, letting loose a stream of fire from his hands, engulfing the robes in flame.
“Hmm… good riddance.” Baekhyun thinks it’s probably illegal the way Chanyeol still manages to stand like a superhero despite all the horrified stares directed at him. “Don’t you agree, Baekhyun-ah? Oh! Hey! You’re glowing! Cool~”
“Oh. My. God.”
