We had a guy like him back in Pittsburgh - his name was Gordie.

Amy and him met in a bar when I was there, and it was fun to watch the interaction. But he actually was a good guy.

He died about two years ago...

I'm fairly certain that even Kurt's wife didn't consider him a "good guy". Who can blame her? He beat her on a regular basis, and would fly into jealous rages if she said hello to their neighbor. Mind you, she was a farm wife in her 60s, and showing some serious mileage, not a pin-up model.
