6x11 The Down Low

Spoilers.
Surprise, surprise, tonight's House M.D. episode was actually not bad. A nice change. The case was OK, the Foreman's salary and Hilson story lines were predictable but well enough executed to be entertaining. House is gradually less caustic and mean, at least at work. He's willing to back down, acknowledge good ideas, in other words, he allows his team to work as a team. Funny though how they're not using the whiteboard anymore. Was this the 1st time? I'm not sure. Is this just a fluke or have TPTB decided that the whiteboard setup doesn't work well anymore, is too stale? Also, they're not walking around the hospital much anymore either, you know, the "dynamic" set piece of the gang hashing ideas about the patient's diagnosis while purposefully, urgently going nowhere in particular, led by a driven, manic House? Robert Sean Leonard singing Broadway tunes at the very end was cute: he does have a nice voice and has some Broadway experience. That's an idea: why not have a musical episode à la Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You (1996)? Finally, notice how Cuddy was basically absent from this ep and esp. did not in any way interact with House? Funny how this ep was much better than some of the previous ones with Huddy stuff that was rather depressing, not witty, mean-spirited, leaving a bad taste. The way Shore sees Cuddy and House right now, it's better if he doesn't have them together in any scene. That way we don't have to cringe at esp. Cuddy's out-of-character-ness... Oh well, I guess I should be grateful for small favors. One more thing, I loved gay House's sartorial choices: refreshing!
