I absoultely hated The Great Gatsby. I absolutely loved The Giver.

I finally read The Giver this year. Simply stupendous to the point where I'm trying to have it added to my AP Literature course next year.

I don't know how anyone makes it through life without reading Gatsby, but its in my top 3. I think it will have a particularly strong impact for a first timer during this dark times in American history.

Men with BAs in English are hot. We need to start a club.

Oh...and depending on what your department required, Beowful in original old English is far superior to any translated version.

Wow!!! That's quite an ambitious list! I've gotten away with not reading a lot of the classics, as well, though I've still read many that show up on your list. My advice is to make The Giver a priority, and nix Beowulf. ;P
