People long for what they can't have. And when they can get what they want they are too scared to take it. It's easy to be the victim. So they play it off as if they were. Where is the strength you ask for? What lets some people rise above the rest? I don't know. Perhaps it's not believing in everything they've been told--you're not smart/beautiful/etc.../you are a sinner....
