Yet another doctor's appointment, and the schedule blues

So this week is presenting itself as the suckiest week ever. Yesterday I had a decent day at work, but it was marred by the fact that I started to get all runny nosed and sniffly after about 10am (which is mid day for me) and generally felt like hell. I assume that my ever low resistance to germs, coupled with the astounding lack of sleep that I ( Read more... )

If you really want to breastfeed and don't know if you can do it because of the iron you probably should talk to a La Leche League leader. If you go to www.lalecheleague.org there are instructions on how to contact one in your area or if you are like me and don't actually want to talk to someone in person then there are also instructions on that site on how to join one of the daily chats on AIM that they have (and that I frequent, love and have gotten me through some tough times). You can also contact a lactation consultant before you have the baby, but they cost an arm and a leg...that's why I opted for the LaLeche people...because they are free and actually a lot of them are lactation consultants. If you need anything let me know because, like you, I am a huge supporter of breastfeeding and am more than willing to help you out (not like you haven't been there before :))

Talk to your doctor about a PICC line. Go here to read more about it http://pfrc.med.nyu.edu/handouts/pdf/proced/PICC02.pdf but basically they put in a line in your arm, that stays in for up to 6 months, and they can just connect to that for anything that they need to add or remove from your veins. So no more needles!

I had one and it was incredibly better than a normal IV. Seriously, talk to your doctor about it. You could use it for the iron treatments as well as the IV you'll need when you give birth. You might even be able to keep it long enough to get the iron treatments after Xander is born so you can breast feed.

Take care hon.
