[Dan is aiting by the front of the Art Department building in case Charlotte forgot her way there. He's wearing a comfortable pair of jeans and a green short sleeve t-shirt, kicking the grass and humming a little to himself.]

[Shrugs a little and turns to her, before he repeats the process with the film again almost absentmindedly] All right, in that case. What makes you so curious about photography?

[notes how he does it with ease and thinks of course he must have done this multiple times already] Why would I not be? Sometimes, people take the obvious photos and think photos can be straightforward, but I think there can be subtlety in each photograph. There has to be a reason why photography is called an art, correct?

Not only that, I heard that developing film can be a very difficult and delicate process, and if you do not use the chemicals or handle the film correctly, all your hard work could go to waste, so it sounded like it could be very fascinating, like a science and art combined.

[A smile spreads over Dan's face as he listens. He thinks Charlotte is really sincere about a lot of things]

I didn't expect a future doctor to be interested in things like this, that's all. But that's a good reason. I like it.

[sees Dan's smile and almost immediately looks shyly down

quickly -- okay, sort of quickly looks back up, though] I think that if one looks enough, one can find something fascinating in almost anything. A scientist or an artist - you can say that they both pay attention to details and the overall at the same time.

[Puts the tank down and turns to look at Charlotte, his smile still intact]

Normally people wouldn't associate artists with scientists all that much. You like to think outside the box, don't you?

[sdjf; slowly getting used to the sparkly smile

nods and props a hand underneath her chin] Yes, to think outside the box means I can perhaps analyze the world in different perspectives to come to new, fascinating conclusions.

[Repeats the process with the developing tank again]

Like how you connected photography to science?

[tilts her head slightly] Something like that but not particularly. I connect science with almost everything, however.

It's an interesting ability. You probably surprise people with it.

[fsdakfkdsfffffff m-must suppress blush must not blush must get used to dazzle--] I suppose you could call it a mindset.

[some time later, looks back at the developing tank] All right, I think that's done now.

[Goes to get the bleach and pours it into the tank periodically] Having a clock with big second hands right next to you really helps, as you can see. [laughs a little as he glances at the small clock next to him quite often]

[makes a small "hmm" sound in thought as she watches Dan at work] May I ask what pictures you are developing today or am I to wait until everything is done?

[squints his eyes in brief thought] A lot of these are from the festival that just passed. The camera wasn't with me all the time, but I did make use of it when I had it. I have a lot more on my DSLR, actually.

[have another hum in thought] Is it more convenient or easier to capture images on a digital camera versus a [... have a pause since she isn't sure what the technical term for a non digital camera is] ... camera that is not digital?

Digital or traditional film? It's easier to see the photos if they're digital, since all you have to do is use the memory card. But there's a distinct quality about film pictures that I like, so I try that every once in a while, too.
