Nice chapter. :)

I like Carl. :P

The Lily and Ash scene was heartbreaking. I feel bad for his siblings. *sighs*

The more I write this, the more I see the entire story as a cathartic journey. I'm glad you liked the chapter.

It's nice that Luke has this support team with him now that's he back in Oakdale. Still very interested to see where this goes. Lucinda and Carl interaction? Intriguing.

I think there's still quite a bit of drama to go. However, I think Lanie and Carl (and even Jason) ground him in a way no one else can. Unlike the people of Oakdale, that family that Ash has built really doesn't care what the people around them think; and they've really nothing invested in the community. They're there for the sake of their odd little family and nothing else. Since Ash needs to come to terms with his past and Jason needs the help, they focus on that particular need. If something were to happen, I have no doubt they'd all walk away without a backward glance.

This was another really emotional chapter.
I loved that Jason is getting the help that he needs, and I'm glad that it isn't an instant fix.
I liked the scene between Lily and Luke. I'm glad that Lily is trying, but is definitely still Lily.
I like the idea of Lanie and Luke in bed together, in a non-sexual way. That really works for me. I can feel that they have a deep love for each other even though it's not a romantic love.
I loved Carl in this chapter! It was nice to see a little softer side to him while he talked to Luke and then his hard self when he spoke to Lucinda.

Great job!

Thanks. I see the way Lanie and Luke interact as vital to who they are now. They're both independent, but they've found something that lets them actually live their lives. They're the best of friends, who give each other the most basic human kindness and contact.
