Boston's public transport is NOT easy or intuitive: the song "Charlie on the MTA" has a strong basis in truth. But luckily for you, getting to the Westin IS easy. The commuter rail train ends in South Station (you can't possibly oversleep the stop). From there, just follow signs to "The Silver Line" (There are signs. I've seen them myself). Take The Silver Line ( a strange sort of hybrid underground tunnel bus. Really)just a few stops to the one marked World Trade Center. Take escalators up several levels. Look for a silver metal sculpture of a horse. At that point, you should see the Westin Hotel in the not-too-far-distance.

Ride that until it gets to South Station (9 stops). At South Station, follow the signs for "Silver Line to Airport". Get on any Silver Line bus at that platform, because (again) you're getting off before the routes split. Take that two stops to World Trade Center.
At WTC, follow the exit signs. Once you come through the fare gates you will see an escalator in front of you. Take the escalators up to the top level of the station; when you get off the last escalator you will be facing the Westin. Walk toward it. :-)

I will be at the Discworld at 30 panel (despite the uncivilized time) for the same reason you will. (I cheat, though; I'm staying at the hotel, so I can sleep a little bit longer and still make it.) I'll also see you at What SF/F Series Should I Begin With?
(Also: have room, have this, can find time to combine them if desired. Let me know.)
