tinaconnolly and I are going to attempt to write 10-minute plays this weekend for a fringe festival.
To that end, we've supplied each other with three dream actors apiece and one prop. I gave her Laurence Fishburne, Bette Davis, Shirley Temple -- and for her prop, a bouquet of silk flowers. She, in turn, gave me Helena Bonham-Carter, Bea Arthur, Zhang Ziyi and an old-fashioned key.
I'm thinking I'm going to try to write the
Muppet Liberation Play. Or at least a part of it. Maybe there will be sock puppets. I'm not entirely sure, nor will be until I start writing tomorrow. What I'm going to concentrate on is those three fabulous actresses in shaggy fur or crazy feathers, playing Muppet freedom fighters.
But I won't call them Muppets, of course. The Muppets was an easy dream conceit. It'll turn into something better, something MINE, on the page. Or, at least, one can only hope. We'll see, won't we?
ZING-ZOU-ZOU!!!
