I've read some crazy stuff, but this is the only book i've ever read that repulsed me to the point where i at one point had to take a break to visit the porcelain goddess. fight club didn't faze me, though the movie was a tad too bloody for my taste, but Ellis's novel is definitely cringe-worthy. but i

now i'm confused. should i read the book, or not read the book? nick has started it, but put it down. not sure if that's a temporary break, or otherwise.

convince him to pick it up again. after he gets past the first 60 or so pages it gets much more interesting (and bloody).

if you can handle a guy torturing a girl to death by sticking a piece of cheese up inside her, uhm, sensitive spots and then shoving a starved rat up there... go for it. it's just a fascinating character study. but very gory.
