I totally agree. I met my husband while I was in the Air Force--so it was a life I'd already decided for myself. I got out so we wouldn't both have to deploy when we had children. The military lifestyle is a CHOICE. It's not some burden placed upon you, you can ditch after your contract is up. If you hate it, get out. This doesn't mean that I don't think military spouses can't complain--it's just that the "I'm so strong because I'm married to a military person" quotes kill me. -SK
Ha, Crystal. You always crack me up with your witty comments and no-fear approach to stating your opinion. I wish I had a pair of balls like you do.
I REALLY hated to hear people complain about the military and the military lifestyle. GET OUT ALREADY. The most annoying part was that it was almost always people that could NOT be competitive for a job outside of the one the military gave them -- no common sense, no education, no motivation, no life skills, etc. I have no idea how the military can function at all with half the people I met while living on the base.
I don't know how your husband makes it through the day without punching someone in the face :)
The Navy is my husband's JOB. Does the Navy NEED HIM? Not... not really. The Country will go on either way. Do his kids NEED HIM? Yes. End of story. He serves his country but it's not the only part of his life.
I must have read the first part wrong, where it says she lost her heart. . . Um It sounds like to me she gave herself up or had her heart trampled on. It makes the man sound like he could care less about his spouse and family. The last part threw me for a loop. If you are proud share this with others. talk about mixed messages. Proud that your spouse chooses his job over you. . .what? I am glad I read some other comments cuz now I sort of see what was meant by it. However, the content was really not done well.
