New meme!

As absolutely no one (but the eagle-eyed herongale) has noticed, I recently updated my Master Fanfic List to include everything I've written lately, now correctly organized by challenge comm, series (for chaptered fics), gen, and pairing. And also as herongale challenged, I will now attempt the following meme.

Self-rec challenge:
List your five favorite fics that ( Read more... )

I've not read all your fics yet, but Hierophant and A Lifetime were among my favourites of yours, of the ones that I've read. Style reasons, for both. Plus, I think knowing A Lifetime had a deeply personal resonance for you made it feel...more meaningful, to me. I wonder if I'd feel the same if I didn't know about your personal reasons for writing that fic; I'm not sure. It might not impact me as much, but I do think a strong voice would still shine through.

Yeah, I realize it probably has that effect - if someone were just to read it, I suspect they'd be like...okay whatever, and move on. Going into it knowing that it is Special to someone though, you wind up psychoanalyzing it. Whatever. I am just glad you can appreciate it :)

personally- the fic A Lifetime kind of impacted me a lot because i could relate to ed's feeling easily (mebbe to a lesser extent, but i don't think that people will just go "okay whatever" and move on even if you didn't state that it was special to you @_@;;

I had no recollection of the fact that you wrote heirophant! It's one of my favorite fics, and I was always trying to track it down again! It just seemed so different from a lot of what I've read from you lately, I didn't think it was one of yours. (that, and it must not have been in your fic list last time I went looking...?) I don't know if I've read that one with Russell/ed, but maybe....= _=... Since I love the idea of the two of them interacting in even the slightest way, I'm going to have to go read that and see what's up. Though I've gotta tell you, if there was symbolism, I would have gotten it. ^^ Also, a lot of people may have gotten things but just not replied about it. I do that, because, if you put things in intentionally, it kind of spoils it to point it out (especially if I got it wrong, lol). But you probably know that.
still, I find it fascinating when people talk about their own works. It kind of supplants english class discussions, and i like that. :)

XD Yes, I'm responsible for Hierophant. I think it was in my fic list as something stupid and useless, though, so don't worry if you couldn't find it XD; I used to not take fanfic on this lj so seriously - everything was "RoyEd porn #1" etc. Somewhere along the line though, I became more focused on writing O.o

It must be because everyone loves you and your bunnies so. xD

tho, wait.... you have other ljs, and you do something other than writing (regularly)? O.o... Do you consider yourself "a writer", Cryo?

Yehknow what's funny? I actually had a feeling CoS5M would wind up there. For the ribbing that it did on a clearly not thought out movie, it was great, but you have a point; spur of the moment things can wind up being your worst bane with your best moment.

However, I will shoot you now for downing Abort, Retry. I'm sorry. I loved it. It was one of things that reminded me why love WORKS, because you took the time to have them go in to one of those silly, random conversations thats essential to making a relationship what it is. If you can't have those and just laugh at how silly you're being, then there's just nothing there (in my oppinion, that is).

But hey, this was you crit-ing your own work, so...I'll only shoot you in the shoulder or something. XD

...I wonder if I should dare to try something like this. >_>;

Hehe...well, I think the other thing about Abort, Retry was that I felt like I didn't work hard enough on it? It got a lot of reviews, and paradoxically, sometimes when that happens I wind up feeling ashamed. I think "gee, I feel bad - this isn't even my best effort, and all these people like it. I feel like I've let them down." You'll note I never talk about The Creative Process too and er, it's pretty much for that exact reason XD; I am never quite sure how to tell someone who has just left me a beautiful comment that er "lol I wrote this in fifteen minutes on a napkin cause I was thinking about hei and ed touching each other durrrrr" XD;;;;;;;

...*SNORT* Well, I can see why. XD While that would be HALLARIOUS (and incidently made me think of this girl I watch on DevART who actually has just about the same responses XD), you're right, it wouldn't be too flattering.

I kind of get the same feeling, and I think that's why I usually wind up never continuing. I can't ever really find myself happy with what I'm writing anymore. And oh god, don't get me started on looking back at older peices. If I had a sword and actual paper there'd be a mess of little paper shreds everywhere. XD

Well, even if you don't think you worked hard enough on it, it was one of those peices that I think didn't need a lot of work, because what you said IN it was enough. :)
