It took awhile for the result on the pregnancy test to register with Margene. She was excited and scared. Neither one of her little boys were over the age of two and she was about to have another one. She felt slightly nauseous and lifted up the toilet seat. She let it all come up before rinsing out her mouth and walking into the kitchen where both her sister wives were waiting for her.
“I’m pregnant,” she smiled, holding up the stick.
Shocked looks crossed Barb’s and Nickie’s face. Nickie was a little pissed because she had told the family that she wanted to bring another soul into the family. Even though it was just a ruse; she had been taking birth control during her nights with Bill. She was mad that Margene had gone and gotten pregnant.
After the initial shock wore off, everyone congratulated her and she returned to her house with Lester and Aaron. She put the boys down to bed and suddenly this feeling of fear just came over her. Was she ready to have a third child? She was already overwhelmed by having to take care of two little boys everyday. She grabbed the baby monitor and rushed over to Nickie’s house. Even though Barb probably would have been better to go to for comfort. It was just the fact that Nickie was closer and she needed comfort fast.
“Nickie, open up, I need to talk to you!” she cried out in a frantic voice.
“What on earth is wrong Magene?” Nickie asked, looking a bit bewildered and unlocked the sliding glass door.
“I’m scared, I’m not sure if I’m ready for another child,” Margie said, tears stinging her eyes.
Nickie rolled her eyes a little bit.
“Margene, that’s what we are good at, having and raising children. It’s so important to this family. Besides, you always have Barb and me to help you out,” Nickie said in a forced sweet voice.
Margie nodded.
“I know, I’m sorry to have bothered you, I just needed the reassurance,” Margie smiled.
“Well that’s what I’m here for. We’re all happy for you, we’re all happy that a new soul is going to enter this family. There is nothing to be afraid of.”
