I have stayed up way, way later than I should have done reading this, and I was taking notes to leave you a proper comment tomorrow morning - or tomorrow, at least, Lord and Lady know I won't be up in the morning - and then I get to this. My heart is racing, I'm maybe slightly shaking, if I were sitting I'd be on the edge of my seat, and you, my dear lady, are a tease.
Goddamn all to hell, I'm going to be seeing Killjoys in my dreams again tonight.
I really liked this when I got this story way back when and I really enjoyed the completed story. It was enjoyable to read, except now I want more of this verse!
Oh, thank you for saying so! That means a lot, especially since you've seen this story in all its half-grown glory. I'm so glad you enjoyed the finished, polished story.
Well, there's definitely more of this 'verse to come. As I mentioned in comments above, there are two longer stories in the works already. :)
This was so neat! Ugh, I'm sorry, but your world building is so clever and understated.
I mean the Preternet. That, is so genius. It's perfectly plausible and creative.
OH WAIT! Have I mentioned your BERT?! Your Bert had me HEART CLUTCHING. I mean:
”This is old magic. It's fin-tail cars and teenage zombies night after night; dreams, hormones and b-movie screams soaking into the ground with the smuggled beer and spilled Coca-Cola. It's kisses on the merry-go-round when the stars come out and necking in the Ford's back seat, leaving big-ass hickeys on each other's necks as Vincent Price laughs, twenty feet high. This is the magnifying glass of the American Teen, focusing the silver screen fantasies that fed this entire coast for generations. It's rebellious, like us. More so, maybe and is definitely fucking magic."BERT BELIEVES IN MAGIC. That was just so fucking perfect. It's so HIM. So many people just make him crazy and gross, which he IS, but he also writes lyrics, and loves Quinn and has these MOMENTS. Ugh, I love how you

His hand's narrow, almost delicate compared to Bob's now, but there’s a new strength to it that sends anticipation shivering through him. Mikey flows to his feet - there’s no other way to describe how he moves - and tilts his head up to meet Bob's eye, those dark eyes gleaming with a hint of gold..I know, I've told you this before but you know what I like and I like that

so haunting, and so satisfying! the ending with the sea after all that desert. ;___; and mikey and wolf!bob curling up on the cot *____* and all the danger and the way the magic was mixed in with the dystopian whatsit...
