It's the darkest night of the year, when the light is very dim and prone to wavering in ( Read more... )

Always remember that when it's the darkest day of the year in one place, it's the brightest in another.

You know, I *was* thinking of you guys and *your* Solstice too. The balance point there was making me grin.

Oddly enough, I started to type a reply before reading the other replies here and stopped when I decided it sounded rather dumb and uneducated...

but it went something like...

Is the winter solstice hemispherical? I mean, if we're having the winter solstice here, is it the summer solstice in Australia?

Sounds like it is!

Oh, I don't think that sounds dumb or uneducated - I knew that pagan types in the southern hemisphere celebrate a seasonal wheel that's opposite the northern celebrations. Did I connect that with the *actual* solstice? Of course not! *facepalms*

[edit: you know, if i hadn't been so keen to watch it again, i would have seen that YOU TOTALLY POSTED THIS LAST YEAR. my reading comprehension has seriously taken a backslide since high school, my friend. ::SHAME::]

The bit in italics and the video -and the link to the Raven Steals the Sun story - are re-posted from last year, yeah. The rest is new.

Well, not my love and appreciation of you, but the words, those are new. :)

Edit: Ahahaha! I'm glad the media was that distracting. The Shiny wins! :D

Happy Solstice.

Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage, against the dying of the light."

Out of context, of course, and carrying a different meaning, but I love that line, anyway.

Thank you. :)
*lights a candle for you too*

Regardless of context, it's one of the most memorable lines in western poetry and very appropriate for the holiday. :)And I rather like the idea of raging against the dying of the light.

So do I. And it is one of my favorite lines/poetic images.

I'm having a quiet summer solstice. Squeak and I have been cleaning and creating and singing and dancing all day. We'll go outside and eat homemade pizza and have sparklers later.

I'm thinking of you and your candles, and I'll be thinking again when we light ours.
