They're waiting for you, Sam, if you know where to look.
Sam hadn't stopped reading the ticket the entire helicopter ride. Despite the words being so vague, he knew exactly what they meant. Really at that point in time, he didn't care. He'd been through much stranger things in his life.
The helicopter ride had been an extravagance he didn't expect. The thought of this being a trap of some kind crossed his mind, but the length at which it was laid out at was too much. If someone wanted Sam's attention, there were much easier ways to do it. And there was the ticket...only a handful of people would ever understand it. Only a handful of people would ever be able to tempt him so easily, and most of the time Sam was sure if those people didn't exist outside his mind.
The seat next to him had been occupied by a powered down mobile. He spent a few minutes trying to get it turned on, with no luck. It seemed the battery was dead, so he decided to take it with him and charge it later. The deliberate placement of it made it obvious to him that was an important part of this whole game. He figured whoever or whatever was leading him, would eventually want to make contact.
His gaze slowly returned back to the window, from there he could see the rolling green fields, and in the distance -- was that a castle? It looked familiar, though he couldn't quite place the name or location with everything else racing around in his mind.
He was thoroughly confused now, as the helicopter began its descent next to one of the grassy knolls. He quickly gathered up his bag. The pilot hadn't been very talkative, and he didn't expect much in the way of directions from him. When they were firmly on the ground, Sam exited the helicopter with a small wave to the pilot. Almost before he could move safely away from the chopper, it took off again and Sam was left seemingly alone.
He'd noticed a few other small buildings from the air, but the helicopter had dropped him off only a few short blocks from the castle. And if someone had gone this out of their way to take Sam to a remote castle in the English country side, he figured that's where he better head to. He was nervous, but his excitement far outweighed the twisting feeling in his stomach.
As he walked toward the castle he made note of the deserted road. He couldn't distinguish the sound of any cars or people in any direction. A few times he thought he could hear the helicopter's engine returning, but when he tried to locate it in the sky he couldn't make it out. When he finally reached the castle, his pace slowed and his apprehension grew. The place seemed completely deserted, and while the grounds were massive someone would have heard the helicopter land. If anyone was here, Sam thought, they might be planning on taking him by surprise. He adjusted his bag, so he'd be more ready for an attack, as walked over to the draw bridge to the main castle.
When he reached the foreboding door to the castle, he paused and knocked lightly. As he expected, there was no answer, so he pushed the door open carefully and walked in. Though his steps echoed in the lavishly decorated hall, he didn't hear any sounds but his own.
"Hello? Is anybody in here?" He called out, hoping for an answer.
