[Daisy] Spells & Speculations (tag Locke, Tara, et al)

Mar 30, 2006 18:13

Daisy gave Tara a smile, though she suspected it didn't quite reach her eyes. She was still upset about John's reaction to her concern for him. She was just trying to protect him! (Men!) she thought. (Pride was the surest way she knew to get yourself killed.)

[Tara] Spells & Speculations (tag Daisy, Locke, and all in interrogation area) tenebraeli March 31 2006, 03:05:20 UTC
"Well, if the Doctor can test them afterwards, then it wouldn't be necessary to do the spell on John too," Tara could see that Daisy was worried, and how much she cared. She didn't like worrying this nice lady like this.

Just then, the female prisoner spoke up, and said, "Glory," to Tara.

Tara went white. Then the woman added, "Willow," and Tara couldn't help but take a step back.

The prisoner went on, in a sing-song voice, "You're just like them... you're just like them... you're just like them." And she smiled like someone who knows an evil secret.

Tara didn't know what to say, this was the first time she had been on the recieving end of the prisoner's power. Glory, the hell-goddess who had smashed her hand and stolen her mind; Willow, her ex-girlfriend who had become so drunk with the power of magic that she had changed Tara's memories to suit her whims. These were what the woman was comparing her to. And maybe she was right.

"N-no," she said, unable to keep her voice calm, "I'm n-n-not like that, no, no."

IMO the prisoner's comments are perfect. Her two big threats -- Blaise and Ripley -- are gone. Back to the taunting. And what effective taunts they are!

Locke smiled at Daisy genuinely. He raised her hand to his lips and kissed it. "I will. Trust me, I'm hoping that the Doctor can take care of this."

[Tara] Assurances (tag All) tenebraeli March 31 2006, 03:59:27 UTC
Tara wrapped her arms about herself, shivering despite the warmth of the sun. The woman's words had cut her to the quick, and to be honest, she *was* planning on erasing their memories, in much the same way Willow had done. The only consolation was that the Doctor was right, if something wasn't done, they would have to be killed.

She was still swamped by guilt, and felt the others should know the truth. Tara said softly, "She is right. Glory... she was a very evil..." she paused, and decided the group wasn't up to hearing about real goddesses yet. "Woman, an evil woman who broke my left hand, and did something to me that left me insane for a while. Willow is my ex-girlfriend, and she wiped my memory in a way that is similar to this spell I'm talking about." She brushed tears away from her eyes quickly, hoping it wasn't too evident ( ... )

"The remaining options are to let them go with whatever she has picked out of the heads of everyone here, or to make sure they can't share with the rest of their class. That means keeping them prisoner indefinately, with all the manpower, food consumption and elimination logistics that entails, or killing them. I don't want to see them killed. They invaded this camp to kidnap, but they didn't deliberately try to kill anyone. Now what they planned for their kidnap victims we don't know. But aside from the moral quelms I have about killing prisoners, thier fellows might come back, more violent, in retaliation. We killed some of them last night. It may be they may retaliate anyway. But I'm hoping they see it as the price of raiding ( ... )

Rather than writing out and RP'ing the specifics on it, shall we all agree that Daniel gathered back up Blaise, Sayid, Ash, and a few more of the able bodied guys to relocate the prisoners into the jungle? (Daniel helped)

Off to have a lovely brunch of waffles now, will be checking back later.

Tara smiled at the banter between The Doctor and Rose, although she hid it behind a bite of apple. They were so cute together, it seemed a pity that they weren't a couple. She assumed the alien/human thing had something to do with that. Still, she entertained a moment's happy fantasy of setting up a Bower O Luv for them, as she and Molly had done for Clarice and Daniel. She smiled again at the thought ( ... )

However ironic it was that a being as powerful as the Doctor needed a human to help him take care of himself, watching Rose and the alien interact was heartwarming. Tommy wondered if they realized that they acted like a married couple -- in a good way.

Tara's analogy of the island's energy being like an unfamiliar step-mother was amusing. Even as her eyelids started drooping, she thanked Tommy for helping with the spell. "My pleasure," he replied sincerely, recalling the different spirits he'd seen. He wondered if people's spirits were always so diverse, or if it was a consequence of the odd collection of people who'd survived the crash. Then Tara lay down for a nap. "You rest. I'm wide awake, so I'll keep an eye out."

[Locke/Daisy] Q & A (tag anyone at the cookfire) starborn_scribe April 3 2006, 03:03:30 UTC
Locke and Daisy had about a dozen survivors' rapt attention when they returned to the cookfire after delivering some food to Tara and Tommy. All of those eyeballs didn't bother Daisy one bit. Locke, however, was somewhat uncomfortable. He squared his shoulders and plunged ahead anyway ( ... )

"I really probably don't want to know this," Megabyte said, "But *how* exactly did they erase the prisoner's memory?" He knew that there were ways to do it telepathically, but he wasn't powerful enough to do it, and he didn't think that Tommy or Tara was telepathic. The only people he knew who could do it were Ami and Kevin, and they would have had to work together with the Ship bolstering them.

(Of course, I guess, The Doctor is a third option,) Megabyte thought sourly.

But Locke had said that it was Tara and Tommy, so none of it added up. (Unless another telepath has slipped beneath the radar.)

OOC: Since sinanju is under the weather, I'm temporarily NPCing Daisy.

"Magic," Locke replied simply. He almost added that Tara declared herself to be a witch, but decided against it. The word carried negative connotations for many.

Seeing that John's reply wasn't going over well with some of the survivors, Daisy jumped in. "Did you all see the symbol that Tara drew in thin air? Call it what you want -- magic or technology -- but it looked like magic to me. What's important is that it worked."

[Megabyte, Sawyer] Q & A (tag anyone at the cookfire) fikgirl April 3 2006, 14:28:44 UTC
"Magic," Megabyte repeated. He'd seen Tara's display, but his mind still didn't want to make the leap to magic. Making the leap to magic meant that they could then make the leap to wizards and elves and dragons and dwarves, and suddenly Dungeons & Dragons wasn't just a fun pasttime, but training for island survival.

He heard murmurings around him, other people similarly confused, disbeliefing or just plain amazed.

He thought of Clark's third law, and that seemed the most logical, and he recited it aloud before he could catch himself, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." At the few looks Megabyte received, he shrugged. "I'm a science geek, I'll go for technology any day of the week, because there is no such thing as magic."No such thing as dinosaurs either," Sawyer drawled. "Not that I think it was magic, 'cause as far as I'm concerned, magic involves pullin' rabbits outta hats and makin' the Statue of Liberty disappear ( ... )
