Ami's calm faded as soon as she felt Scott's pain. Her mind ran through a million scenarios of the dorm destabilizing and taking her husband along with it, and it was only through sheer force of will that she pushed back the panic and upset. She didn't demand answers or that Scott return to her immediately, all of which flashed through her mind, and in the end it was a good thing. She wasn't particularly happy with the frostbite scenario, but she couldn't blame Scott for wanting to see and comfort his mother

Jenny grinned at the bright ripples moving away from Ami's hazy form on the other side of the dome. "Someone else wants in."
"Yeah," Scott agreed. As his mother shifted her grip to take Scott's hand, he noticed what she was holding in her other hand: a wooden spoon stained with with what looked like tomato sauce.
Jenny noticed his bemused grin and matched it. "You caught me in the middle of making dinner."
Chuckling, Scott moved the short distance to Ami's side of the energy barrier with Jenny trailing along behind. Ami took the hand he reached through the translucent surface and stepped through. The last of her worry dissapated only after she'd seen him and their link had returned to normal. She smiled at him and Jenny. "It's good to see you again, J--"
Jenny's welcoming smile suddenly became an astonished gape. Concern rushed from her. "Ami! Are you--" Then she looked up at Scott. "You said you both are okay. What happened?!" The question was directed at them both.

As soon as Jenny's emotions shifted from happiness and welcome to astonishment and worry, Ami's hand instinctively rose to touch the spiral lock of silvery white at her temple. She felt Scott's surprise, confusion, and then frustration. Forcing her hand away from the errant lock, Ami turned her gaze towards her husband.
/What are we going to tell her?/ While Ami understood all the reasons that Scott would undoubtedly give her for wanting to tell Jenny the truth, her old protective instinct rose up. (The less said, the better, no need to worry the poor woman any more than she's already worried.) At least that was always Ami's tactic when dealing with her own mum; but this was Scott's mother and the decision would have to be his.

/The less said, the better, no need to worry the poor woman any more than she's already worried./ Scott was certain that he wasn't meant to have heard Ami's thought. She was right, but... DHARMA had to be shut down. Without his father there the only way to relay what had happened was verbally so that Jenny could pass the information on to Kevin, who'd tell General Damon. Then came the fun part: telling his mother how DHARMA knew all about him and how that bastard Ethan had spilled his secret to the fucking Air Force
