Ami's calm faded as soon as she felt Scott's pain. Her mind ran through a million scenarios of the dorm destabilizing and taking her husband along with it, and it was only through sheer force of will that she pushed back the panic and upset. She didn't demand answers or that Scott return to her immediately, all of which flashed through her mind, and in the end it was a good thing. She wasn't particularly happy with the frostbite scenario, but she couldn't blame Scott for wanting to see and comfort his mother

Jenny grinned at the bright ripples moving away from Ami's hazy form on the other side of the dome. "Someone else wants in."
"Yeah," Scott agreed. As his mother shifted her grip to take Scott's hand, he noticed what she was holding in her other hand: a wooden spoon stained with with what looked like tomato sauce.
Jenny noticed his bemused grin and matched it. "You caught me in the middle of making dinner."
Chuckling, Scott moved the short distance to Ami's side of the energy barrier with Jenny trailing along behind. Ami took the hand he reached through the translucent surface and stepped through. The last of her worry dissapated only after she'd seen him and their link had returned to normal. She smiled at him and Jenny. "It's good to see you again, J--"
Jenny's welcoming smile suddenly became an astonished gape. Concern rushed from her. "Ami! Are you--" Then she looked up at Scott. "You said you both are okay. What happened?!" The question was directed at them both.
[Ami] What Now?fikgirlOctober 8 2006, 03:57:23 UTC
As soon as Jenny's emotions shifted from happiness and welcome to astonishment and worry, Ami's hand instinctively rose to touch the spiral lock of silvery white at her temple. She felt Scott's surprise, confusion, and then frustration. Forcing her hand away from the errant lock, Ami turned her gaze towards her husband.
/What are we going to tell her?/ While Ami understood all the reasons that Scott would undoubtedly give her for wanting to tell Jenny the truth, her old protective instinct rose up. (The less said, the better, no need to worry the poor woman any more than she's already worried.) At least that was always Ami's tactic when dealing with her own mum; but this was Scott's mother and the decision would have to be his.

/The less said, the better, no need to worry the poor woman any more than she's already worried./ Scott was certain that he wasn't meant to have heard Ami's thought. She was right, but... DHARMA had to be shut down. Without his father there the only way to relay what had happened was verbally so that Jenny could pass the information on to Kevin, who'd tell General Damon. Then came the fun part: telling his mother how DHARMA knew all about him and how that bastard Ethan had spilled his secret to the fucking Air Force

[Ami] What Next?fikgirlOctober 9 2006, 02:41:57 UTC
Ami shuddered as the dome collapsed, taking Jenny along with it. Concern flooded her and she lifted her face up to gaze intently at Scott. "Is she all right? She's back at her house, right?"
Scott nodded, hugging her tightly to him. "Technically she never left."
Resting her head on her husband's chest, Ami sighed. /I wish that we hadn't had to worry her like that./
/I know, so do I, but we - /
/Had to get the information to Bill,/ Ami finished. She desperately wanted to be rescued, wanted to see DHARMA pay, but she couldn't shake the nagging sensation that they wouldn't. That in the end, DHARMA would win. DHARMA had access to technology that they shouldn't have, that they were outside of the system, more outside of the system than even WorldEx was accustomed to dealing with.
Forcing the dark thoughts aside, Ami tilted her head up to look at her husband again. She fixed him with a half-smile, hoping to lighten the somber mood a bit, "At least I like my mother-in-law. I've heard that's not supposed to happen."

Scott chuckled. "Only if you're very lucky."
"I am," Ami smiled. Then her eyes unfocused. Scott presumed she was 'talking' to Damon. /Yes, it went well. Jenny will pass the information along to Bill./ Scott returned the co-locator to his carry-on bag as his wife conversed with her best friend. Ami continued projecting her end of the conversation as she moved back to the bed. /Right, then. I think we all can get a few more hours of sleep. New fathers certainly need the rest./
Scott grinned and Ami giggled at the none-too-subtle taunt. He sat beside her on the bed. /Bright. Red. Hair. 'Nuff said,/ Ami retorted in a decent American accent. /Yes, Megabyte. I understand. Good night. And thank you again./
The two stretched out on the bed, still grinning. Scott was happy for the distraction. It kept him from worrying about his spilled secret and if his parents were safe. /You know that Aaron's empathic, right?/
[Ami] Back to Bed?fikgirlOctober 11 2006, 01:56:27 UTC
Ami sat up again, mouth gaping slightly in surprise. /You're having me on!/
Her husband's grin broadened. Scott gave a tug on her wrist, pulling her body back down beside his. /No, I'm not having you on. I sensed it when Damon had me check to make sure Aaron was okay. Before he was born even

Ami's attentions were very, very tempting. If not for her too-prominent ribs and her body's general weariness Scott would have happily succumbed to his wife's feminine wiles. Instead he focused on the lingering effects of the drugs on her body. That reined in his hormones. Ami noticed; she peered up at him through her lashes.
"That's not fair, and you know it," Scott chuckled. He tangled his fingers in her hair, moving his fingertips in small circles that never failed to relax her.
Ami purred, murmuring, "Neither is that."
Scott kissed the top of her head. "You got that right. You need to rest. I'll jump you tonight, though."
"Promise?" Ami sighed.
"Promise." Scott grinned as he felt her heart and breathing rates slow. Ami promply fell asleep. Scott followed soon after.
