"Got it, Aunt Gwendolyn." He easily picked up the cake and set it onto the table before quickly changing back to his human self.
Being the ten year old he was, the box with holes that Gwen was still carrying peaked his interest the moment she came in the room.
"So what's in there?" Kenny smiled up at her, wanting to see the contents of the wrapped box. Now.

"Er, crap. Too late."

[OCC: Remember that dog? Those are the same ones that Charmcaster summoned up to fight Ben with when he was a kid. I wonder if Charm made it for Gwen to give to Kenny...]

Julie did not want to celebrate Kevin's birthday.
Sure, Kevin was a nice guy, but... But BEN. That was really the only excuse she had.
Julie was pretty sure she was crazy.
Ben had invited her to the party. That was reason enough for her to go. And there would be coffee! Caffeine!
She shifted the heavy box to her arm. She had withdrawn a hefty ammount from her savings, (The things she did for Ben...) and purchased a drill. Because... Kevin liked tools, right?
...
Okay, Julie was really bad at this friendship thing.
Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

Ben spared a glance for the door, still holding the box a little worriedly. He was hoping that the kitten might magically stay asleep--cats slept a lot, right?--for the duration or the party or at least until they got to the gift-giving portion of the evening.
He lifted a corner of the box cautiously, prompting a little white paw to poke out and claw for his nose. Ben poked the paw back in and closed the lid before opening the door, "Hey, Jules! C'mon in. We're still kind of setting up.

And he certainly wasn't disappointed. He was only standing outside the front door and he could hear the dulcet tones of gnashing cymbals and guitars.
He hoped somebody inside could hear the doorbell when he rang it.

Before Kenny could mutter up a greeting for the newcomer, his mouth hung open. He knew who this man was. He knew him very well actually. Especially when he dropped by on occasion to see how the world was in his time.
"Hey! I know you!" Of course, he expected Paradox to reply that he didn't know who Kenny was, but he still had the need to exclaim the fact that he knew this man.

"I see we have already met," he said to Ken. "But I don't suppose you remember how we met?"

"We're having a party for Kevin's birthday. You can come in if you want." He looked up at the ageless man, ushering him inside as his dad taught him to do to guests.

"Hey, when's Kevin supposed to get here?" Being the ten year old he was, standing around and waiting with people much older than you wasn't very fun, so his attention span was incredibly short.

Pushing open the door, his eyes and ears were assaulted with something that could only be described as....something Ben cooked up. There was music blasting, which he didn't really mind, this was a pretty bitchin song, but his apartment. Oh, fuck. It looked like every cheap child's birthday decoration was bought and pasted haphazardly all over the place.
After the initial shock settled, the mutant called out loudly, "What the hell is going on here?"

"Um... Ben did it." She offered helpfully. "He's in the kitchen, arguing with Albedo about... Whatever those two argue about."
Julie felt a bit like a tattletale, but anything that would shift attention away from her had to be good.

"Yeah, okay..." Kevin muttered as he walked past the girl, looking for his would-be boyfriend, who was fighting over a pan of...chili fries. Figures. Ben and the Q-Tip staying civil when there were chili fries around? Please. That's like trying to get the US to have a party with Russia during the Cold War.
"Having fun?"

"We;re gonna do this like a real surprise party. You know, you walk in and we yell 'SURPRISE!' and you pretend you're surprised even though you knew it was coming."
