Gwen swung in with her arms loaded. "You two really did a number on this place," she laughed, pushing the door open with her hip. In her arms were several things, among them two meticulously wrapped gifts--one with mysterious holes peeking through the ribbon--and a ridiculously large, ludicrously chocolate cake. "Hey, Kenny, mind grabbing this?" The cake teetered on her thin arm.

To assist with setting up further, Kenny had been switching back and forth between aliens, mostly Four Arms since Ben had told him not to use XLR8. So picking up a cake was, well, as easy as pie. Wow, Ken even got his lame puns from his dad.

"Got it, Aunt Gwendolyn." He easily picked up the cake and set it onto the table before quickly changing back to his human self.

Being the ten year old he was, the box with holes that Gwen was still carrying peaked his interest the moment she came in the room.

"So what's in there?" Kenny smiled up at her, wanting to see the contents of the wrapped box. Now.

"Ahhh, Gwen!" Ben zipped forward to relieve her of the odd box, taking it gingerly, "I'm just gonna put this one in his room for now. The loud music and all might--" The box thumped ominously, or as ominous as a tiny paw hitting a cardboard box can sound. It was more of a bap than a thump, really. Ominous nonetheless.

"Er, crap. Too late."

"What's in it? Is it one of those alien dogs you got me for my birthday, Aunt Gwendolyn?" Kenny stood on his toes to try and get a better look, slightly annoyed that he was constantly ignored when asked. He was good with secrets!

[OCC: Remember that dog? Those are the same ones that Charmcaster summoned up to fight Ben with when he was a kid. I wonder if Charm made it for Gwen to give to Kenny...]

((OOC: Wasn't sure if I should've continued from Kenny's post. Lemme know if I need to fix it.))

Julie did not want to celebrate Kevin's birthday.

Sure, Kevin was a nice guy, but... But BEN. That was really the only excuse she had.

Julie was pretty sure she was crazy.

Ben had invited her to the party. That was reason enough for her to go. And there would be coffee! Caffeine!

She shifted the heavy box to her arm. She had withdrawn a hefty ammount from her savings, (The things she did for Ben...) and purchased a drill. Because... Kevin liked tools, right?

...

Okay, Julie was really bad at this friendship thing.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

[[ooc: This is fine. This log will be all over the place with the commenting.]]

Ben spared a glance for the door, still holding the box a little worriedly. He was hoping that the kitten might magically stay asleep--cats slept a lot, right?--for the duration or the party or at least until they got to the gift-giving portion of the evening.

He lifted a corner of the box cautiously, prompting a little white paw to poke out and claw for his nose. Ben poked the paw back in and closed the lid before opening the door, "Hey, Jules! C'mon in. We're still kind of setting up.

Julie stepped in nervously, plopping her present down on the nearest horozontal surface. She had to admit, the place was looking good.

"Anything I can help with?"

Ben looked around, hands clamped over the lid of the now rattling box, "Nope, all set up. We're just waiting for more people to show up." He tucked the box under his arm, "What'd you get him?"

Paradox had figured he wasn't going to have time for such silly things as parties, but when he realized this party had death metal for a soundtrack, he decided he could make time. Metal was his guilty pleasure.

And he certainly wasn't disappointed. He was only standing outside the front door and he could hear the dulcet tones of gnashing cymbals and guitars.

He hoped somebody inside could hear the doorbell when he rang it.

While his father was busy prying the unnamed kitten off his forearm, Kenny rushed himself to the door as it rang. He already knew everyone here so far, save for the black haired girl his father talked to earlier. Anyways, he reached for the door and opened it.

Before Kenny could mutter up a greeting for the newcomer, his mouth hung open. He knew who this man was. He knew him very well actually. Especially when he dropped by on occasion to see how the world was in his time.

"Hey! I know you!" Of course, he expected Paradox to reply that he didn't know who Kenny was, but he still had the need to exclaim the fact that he knew this man.

Paradox was a little taken aback by the tiny child answering the door, but he already knew Ken and Devlin were in this time period from talking with Ben. He put on his best "I'm a doctor" smile.

"I see we have already met," he said to Ken. "But I don't suppose you remember how we met?"

"Dad told me you showed up the day I was born to tell him something and congratulate him. As for the first time I remember you... I think I was like, eight. Another save the world thing and you stuck around for like two days before the world was right again. Um, would you be able to take me and Devlin back to our time? Like, in the future? We don't exactly belong here and all..." Kenny scratched the back of his neck before realizing that they were still at the door way. He opened the door more and stepped out of the way to let the time jumper in.

"We're having a party for Kevin's birthday. You can come in if you want." He looked up at the ageless man, ushering him inside as his dad taught him to do to guests.

Becoming bored with waiting, Kenny made his way to the other room where his father was. Said man still in the kitchen with his doppelganger. He looked up at him and tugged on his shirt sleeve.

"Hey, when's Kevin supposed to get here?" Being the ten year old he was, standing around and waiting with people much older than you wasn't very fun, so his attention span was incredibly short.

Kevin tried to open the front door. Locked? That's weird. Pulling out the keys from his front jean pocket, he stuck the key into the lock and turned.

Pushing open the door, his eyes and ears were assaulted with something that could only be described as....something Ben cooked up. There was music blasting, which he didn't really mind, this was a pretty bitchin song, but his apartment. Oh, fuck. It looked like every cheap child's birthday decoration was bought and pasted haphazardly all over the place.

After the initial shock settled, the mutant called out loudly, "What the hell is going on here?"

Julie wandered over to Kevin, eager to get away from whatever was happening in the kitchen. Once there, she rubbed her arms nervously. Sure, there were witnesses, but Kevin was a great deal bigger than her, and not exactly prone to logical responses. She knew that he knew the smoothie attack was intentional, and meant for him. It was written all over his face. Coming to this party had been a very bad idea.

"Um... Ben did it." She offered helpfully. "He's in the kitchen, arguing with Albedo about... Whatever those two argue about."

Julie felt a bit like a tattletale, but anything that would shift attention away from her had to be good.

Kevin was a little too preoccupied with his apartment being a freaking birthday party explosion to really pay attention to Julie. Oh, Ben was so gonna get it.

"Yeah, okay..." Kevin muttered as he walked past the girl, looking for his would-be boyfriend, who was fighting over a pan of...chili fries. Figures. Ben and the Q-Tip staying civil when there were chili fries around? Please. That's like trying to get the US to have a party with Russia during the Cold War.

"Having fun?"

Ben glanced away from the little battle going on between Paradox and Albedo before turning back to watch them fight over the evil little kitten. One double-take later had Ben springing into action. A little sheepishly, he caught Kevin by the shoulders and spun him around, marching him back towards the door. Ship turned the music down lower and Ben kept pushing Kevin towards the door.

"We;re gonna do this like a real surprise party. You know, you walk in and we yell 'SURPRISE!' and you pretend you're surprised even though you knew it was coming."
