Silly nonbiologicals, don't know what a sustainable breeding population is. Or... I guess if they can do functional sex reassignment they can do other kinds of genetic intervention as well.

This was one of those ones that I had no idea, none at all, what it was leading up to when I started it. I just had the notion of endangered-species human being visited in the zoo by one of the robots that destroyed our natural habitat.
