[As it's raining today, the old man has decided to do what he usually does, get drunk out of boredom. But it has been a while since he's used the journal for anything other than people watching, so he figured he should probably contribute to that mess that we call social interaction. He's been trying to figure out what he was doing the last time he ( Read more... )

Do it. Then you can serenade me, post-crepe-feast.

[ she isn't strictly as cheery as she sounds, but she chooses to be upbeat when responding to the 'old man'. ]

[Then that makes two of us, darling.]

Serenadin' women after winning their hearts with my delicious cookin', ya know, this instrument idea doesn't sound half bad now.

[ they co-conspire to be cheery. it's a thing. ]

See? My brain and your skills? You'll have all the women-folk lining up.

[It's opposite day then, everyone happy in Luceti is secretly miserable?]

Well then, do ya have any particular recommendations fer what kinda instrument I should try?

I try to keep myself occupied by talking to people. An easy thing to do with the journals.

Instruments might take a while to learn, if you're patient enough.

Talkin' ta people is great, do it all the time. But sometimes they talk such crap ya need a distration.

And I have the patience of a saint!

So, you have the patience of a saint, but you need a distraction from people talking crap?

[She giggles a little. Just teasing really.]

I know someone who teaches piano around the village. I think he does it in the school more than not.

I never said I wasn't a hypocrite.

[He thinks for a moment, he's only ever see one person playing the piano in Luceti.]

Oh! Would this piano guy by any chance be called 'Frederic'?

Learning an instrument isn't such a bad idea. I picked up learning the harmonica since I came here.

Ya play the harmonica? Didn't know that... A few of the guys I kept runnin' into in jail back home used ta play one as well.

Ahahaha, well, I do hope you know you don't have to be in jail to play one.

I heard a story once that the harmonica was invented by a guy in jail. He made it out of his dinner plate and a fork!

Ya know, I never thought of readin' books. I'm not really a bookworm, but if ya've got some recommendations I'll give 'em a shot.

[And this is exactly why she's been trying to figure out the library's cataloging system.]

Alright, but I'll need a little information. Likes, dislikes, interests - that sort of thing.

Hard ta say when ya barely read. I'm used ta more of the non-fiction types, like recorded events. But I wouldn't mind reading about some fictional wars, or things about spies! Ya know, the more morally darker stuff that isn't horror.

Greetings!

I usually busy myself decorating the manor, it's not as big as back home but it's still big enough for me to take a while at it if I do it little by little. I also read books and study a bit, practice music and help with the chores as much as Sebastian allows me.

If I still have time I take walks around the village and play with my pony and Chomp. And sometimes I do trips to the clothing store!

[For a Victorian girl life here isn't as boring as it could be.]

Afternoon!

Sounds like yer keepin' yourself busy there. There's a lot of people livin' in our house, so we don't get the luxury of a nice quiet day fer the most part. I spend most of my time outta the house and around town, there's just not much ya can do when the weather is miserable like this.

But ya mentioned you practiced music? So, what instrument do ya play?

It's not that different from home, actually, unless experiments are going on.

[At least for her.]

I'm used to have more people in the manor, not just my family but the servants and possible guests my father would receive. I find it lovely to have many people in the house, it makes it all more lively!

I've been taught to play both piano, harp and violin. Though it has been a while since I practiced with the piano and the harp, I was only able to find a violin at the stores here.

[Ah, so she's a noble. He's never paid thought to what they're lives would be like here.]

I can't argue, much as I hate ta admit it, they do make things much more interestin'.

Piano, harp and violin, huh? So yer multi-talented with instruments. [A pause as he thinks.] Well I don't know where ya'd find a harp, but there is a grand piano at the Good Spirits Bar! People are allowed ta use it whenever they want to.
