I suppose I could just register on upcoming.org and just track all of these events there, but then I don't get to poll the friends list to see if anyone's interested in coming with ( Read more... )

ah, color me jealous.

how is Strategy solo? i must confess that this is the first bit of music that I've heard him work on, and I can't tell how much of it is him and how much is The Blow.

Mono is also playing at the Middle East Downstairs on June 18 (unless you were already going to be in NYC for something else).

Chuck Palahniuk is a signing only event this time.

I'm going to NYC for work from 1/9 to 1/11 (I picked the "take the Acela the night before and just hang out listen to avant-garde Japanese noise in advance of a two-day design meeting" option), and I'll be in Toronto when Mono is up here.

re: Chuck P. -- really? I saw a mailer go out from Brookline Booksmith saying that he was just doing a signing at their store, but didn't realize that it meant that the Coolidge show was cancelled. That's too bad.

The Booksmith site says signing only. Nothing listed on the Coolidge site (anymore?).

Smart move with Mono. It would be a shame to miss them.

yeah, sorry, false alarm. Here's what I got from Brookline Booksmith last week:
Many of you have been waiting anxiously to hear the details of our Chuck Palahniuk event on June 6. This event will now be a table signing in the store from 6-9pm on the 6th. No tickets are required for this event, contrary to what was originally announced. There are definitely no tickets going on sale today at 1pm. If you call the store to buy tickets, you will be told that there are none - this is because tickets are not required for this event, and there is no need to call the store and ask for them. Chuck Palahniuk tickets do not exist.
It's just a table signing, though he'll probably have a bit of a talk in the beginning, if you can make it over there early.

I hope this means a new book is coming out, although the last one didn't thrill me all the way through. Granted, it was more a collection of stories than one big one.

Dude, is that Isis the metal band? The Hippie might be there.

I want to go to Mogwai and Snow Patrol. There was a new Snow Patrol song on Stereogum a few weeks ago and the thumbs-down comments said it sounded like the Goo Goo Dolls. I was like "Wow, yeah, no wonder I can't stop listening to it."

I saw Seven Sunless as part of the Ominous Collective show a few months ago. Definitely worth seeing.

Didn't you see Coldcut many years ago when the Ninja Tune tour stopped by the Middle East? Kinda curious about how they are live. Their recorded DJ sets are awesome, but DJ performances are always such an odd bag.
