I suppose I could just register on upcoming.org and just track all of these events there, but then I don't get to poll the friends list to see if anyone's interested in coming with.
So, anyway, here are the shows that caught my eye for the season.

jesus, that's a lot of nights out...
oh, and current listening staple at work is
the Strategy remix of Blow's "The Love That I Crave". I can't add much more to what the illustrious
moebius-rex has laid out, except to confirm that it is gorgeous, catchy, awesome and definitely something that's in the repertoire for the next time I'm on decks.
1 despite some industrial darky-dark leanings, my taste in avant hip-hop tends more to RJD2's sweet melancholy than Dalek's intelligent menace. I perk an eyebrow at Wikipedia describing them as
"influenced as much by My Bloody Valentine and Neubauten as by Wu-Tang, but I can't really disagree with that assessment. It just makes me wonder why I don't like them more.
besides, double-checking the date, I'm reminded that I'll be finishing
a 200km bike ride in MA and New Hampshire earlier that day, and I imagine that I won't be up for much of anything beyond resting my sore ass afterwards.
2 That's the Japanese experimental noise outfit
Mono, and not one-hit triphop wonder
Mono. Probability dependent on my train getting into NYC on schedule.
3 so, out of curiosity, is anyone going to Sigur Ros instead?
4 refer to avant-hip hop leanings mentioned in footnote 1.
5 I've already seen Chuck Pahlaniuk read (four years ago @ the Harvard Co-op for Invisible Monsters) so I'm not so hot on seeing him again, but he is a good live speaker, and a suprisingly nice, mellow guy ... not nearly as pompously crass as one might expect, especially since everyone who shows up expects something like Henry Rollins and actually gets something closer to Bruce Springsteen. Worth checking out if you haven't seen him yet.
nevermind: reading is cancelled, it's just a signing.
6 Diplo, I like ... Brazilian pop that tries to reinvient, like, the nth iteration of New York art-rock sounds, I'm not so keen on.
