Tried the Simplicity pattern for 18th century men's kit - not bad! Except all pockets are flaps only, the armscythe was Way small for the sleeve, and the back seams need to be more...in. And the breeches... Elastic in the back waist? Really??
But the use of fab fabric trumps all! Whoever buys it will look like Jared from Labrynth. Whoohoo!

Pic ensues )

"Hello! I am Murphy Brown, and now I will take your eye out wth my massive shoulders pads! Enjoy listening to my news, you won`t be seeing my awesome teased big 80`d hair with no eyes. RESPECT THE SHOULDERS!"
Screw it.
Oh hey. Gotta edit! Who knew the crappy iphone pic would be so BIG?!

Jack would have loved it I'm sure - he bemoaned the drab colors men took to wearing in the 19th century.
Navy blue and gold would have been perfect for him. Diagonal stripes have a slimming effect, yes? :D

Jack as a man in such a stripe, blue and gold. A yard wide of the fabric straining over 17 stone of British beef - I am not sure whether to be horrified or lustful. Surely he would resemble a moving hazard sign! LOL

He was in his 20's in the 1790's, and in 1800 he was only (only :-) 14 stone. Maybe he wore it to a ball sometime as a young man :-)

Do they even talk about his fashion taste ashore?
He's right though. Beau Brummel did us a disservice by taking the color from men's clothes. Life is too damned short to wear black all the time and especially when you ain't dead yet.
