Sometimes it's easy to forget that behind every screen name is a flesh and blood person with real feelings. No drama here, just saying

I have definitely experienced my share of insane internet drama, I chose to mock it and retold the story to my flist using an "LJ 90210" parody. I do agree that because there is no face to face contact, there is often no accountability so many people can and do say anything.
However, having said that, some of my dearest and best friends are online only friends. They are people I would trust with my deepest secrets. Though I may never have the opportunity to meet them in person, I would absolutely love to if I could.
So, as much as I feel your pain (and really, I do very much!), don't discredit all your virtual buds.

Congrats on your decision to not be "sick" anymore. The power of the mind over the body should never be underrated. I have no doubt that is a difficult decision that has to be remade constantly. You are awesome for doing it.

I have meet incredible people online. Two of my very bestest friends in the world I met online. I'm lucky enough to live nearby on of them and I've been able to give her hugs in person.
I haven't been hurt lately. I've just been watching drama unfold and feel for the people involved. I remember what it felt like to have people turn their backs with relative ease, people I thought were close friends. Oh well, water under the bridge.

I am still using my hot packs. It was one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received. When I do have bad days and my feet feel like mush, it's wonderful to be able to put one in the microwave. Thanks so much!

Yay!!! I'm so glad you are still getting use out of them!!! Honestly, that makes my day.
I had to grasp the fact that internet friends are not the same as "real life" ones.
I assume that my lj friends aren't real people, or if they are they are all creepy 50-year-old perverts masquerading as others.
You know, I like lj friends because you can be totally selfish with them. It's all about me, when I want and on my time. If I'm upset someone on my flist will either give me an attaboy or that guy's a dusche bag.
But then, I don't personally know anyone on my flist. I think the relationship changes once you do. And those personal attacks are just crazy, you're right do people forget that they are talking to another person?
I wonder what the psychology behind that is. I'm sorry someone hurt you. Just watch this and you should feel better:

You are right! Totally agree!

It was a long time ago, but thanks. I've been watching drama unfold from the sidelines (not involved at all) and it kills me. I think about all the hurt feelings. Empathy is a bitch.
