Lighting a fire

Lately -- ever since Friday afternoon, when I got a special message from my sister -- I've been very industrious. I'm cleaning everything, digging up the languishing projects that need finishing and mailing, and getting over the hangups involved therein. (You know, I want everything to be perfect--don't you?) I've also been staying up late to ( Read more... )

procrastination, babies, knitting, twins, knitted gifts

I am so jealous of all the aunting that's going around right now. (Anyone out there want to be my niece/nephew?) And twins makes it even more exciting! Knitting for two!! Did she find out what they're going to be??

hey, how did you like that pattern? i LOVE the yarn, but i found it to be barely one-skein and the arms were really bulky with all the seams. when i make it again, i plan to knit the sleeves in the round and pick them up from the armholes.

I liked it! some notes... yes, I got close to running out of yarn on the white version. I almost think the pattern would work better if it gave the number of rows to knit instead of inches because if you're on gauge (and did I swatch? hells no, but I was on gauge) then a scant 4.5" or 4.25", which I did on the first (green) sweater, gave me plenty of yarn leftover (several yards, I'd guess).

The green yarn is much softer than the white for some reason, and I think that contributed to the shoulders being better on the green one. I also used a separate strand to seam the green one and ends to seam the white b/c I was worried about running out of yarn on that one.

They are going to be so adorable in those little boleros, and smaller than you ever thought possible.

I'm a little vicariously jealous of you, because the train ride from Seattle to Portland is my favorite train ride ever, and if you wanted to--why, you could practically whip out a penguin on the way! (Course, driving is proably more efficient and cheaper. but still.)
