the way back machine

I didn't like it when Yahoo announced that they were going to delete all of the Geocities pages last year. It felt like burning down a library: a library full of obnoxious tiled backgrounds, midis, and animated gifs, but a library none the less. Every page that sat on those servers represented the birth of the internet into the mainstream. It's ( Read more... )

I didn't realise how good yellow, green and grey go together. Huh. You learn something new each day. XD

I recced Eon: Dragoneye Reborn to you didn't I? If so, yay someone else who's read it! (Was it an actual book or ebook?)

I think there were times when Eon seemed pretty dense (esp. about the dragon) but Lady Dela and Ryko more than made up for it (Am i weird for thinking this would make a kick ass k/j/twdrama? It would SO work). Plus you've got the Crown Prince and Lord Ido (Again, am i weird for kind of finding Eon/Ido kinda hot? IT'S SO WRONG!) and the issues Eon has with them.

I think the annoying thing now is to wait to see what happens next. And i've been waiting a bloody year now.

I started Graceling but never got round to finishing it. I think i couldn't take Po seriously 'cos everytime i thought of him i got the Teletubby instead. XD

Eon drove me a little crazy when she started taking the Sun drug and couldn't see the dragon. It shouldn't have been that hard to figure out. But then, I can see how she would be panicking and grasping at any sort of hope there was. She didn't really have anyone to turn to because she thought they would reject her if they knew. She had to feel so alone.

Again, am i weird for kind of finding Eon/Ido kinda hot? IT'S SO WRONG!

YES.

j/k I kind of did too, until she kept referring to his beard as oily. I couldn't take that.

I was leaning more towards the prince because Eon was his first friend and I totally started seeing the whole book as Coffee Prince with the gender confusion.

Lady Dela was fantastic. And Ryko was awesome, but it made me sad how angry at Eon he got. :(

ETA: It was a REAL book. I had to have it shipped over from another branch.

I think that most people would find Eon so blindly taking the Sun drug really annoying (i know i did) but like you said, she honestly didn't have a clue and was too afraid to trust those around her. Even though it's Lady Dela and Ryko we're talking about here.

Re. Ido. I kept going from hot evil to urgh evil for some reason. Maybe it was the descriptions lol.

I totally loved Eon/Prince Kygo just 'cos it was exactly what you said - Ancient Alterna-Coffee Prince. Oooh. *visualises* Gong Yoo would make a great Kygo...

I think Ryko had total justification for being so pissed off with Eon. They've been banging on about the 'special' one and not getting shafted by Lord Ido and she's lied to them all this time, even if she was too afraid to say anything. Obviously the second book will (hopefully) look at their relationship after running off.

Real book huh? I've tried looking for the ebook to pimp to people but i can't find it ANYWHERE. Question is, are you glad you had it shipped?

I am glad! But now I'm frustrated that I have to wait for the sequel X(

I went through a paranoid phase a few years ago and madly saved all my favorite fanfics. Now I stumble across them on my hard drive every now and enjoy them though sometimes my reaction is, "why did I save THIS?" lol

Graceling was great though Katsa, while awesome, sometimes got on my nerves. I think her age/maturity shows sometimes. And I adored Po, though it took me forever to get over his horrible name. The ending made me pretty annoyed, though. Make sure you read Fire after - she's everything you like about Katsa plus more and without the annoying maturity issues.

Katsa is the kind of person that I don't think I could be friends with. She is just so angry at the world. Rightly so, and it makes for an interesting character, but as it is I don't find her terribly likable at the moment.

Oooh, gray and yellow and green make an unexpectedly lovely color scheme! I look forward to your showing us this project as it progresses!

Oh, I know well the heartache of webpages going poof, taking some of your favorite things with them. Thank goodness for the kind work of archiving sites!

I'm kind of nervous. I've never painted a wall gray before. I hope I find one that doesn't just make the wall look dirty.

(WOW, I LOVE YOUR ICON!)

As for the Geocities thing, that saddens me. Ditto on everything you said, that's exactly how I feel about it. As much as I hate the phrase of "remember you roots," those were the internet's roots and they were hilarious to come back to or simply get nostalgic over. That's sad that they're deleting them--they are making a black hole of history! People will forget they ever knew what a midi was ...... :C

You know I love to see your DIY--post some pics! I agree with the earlier comment, I didn't think yellow added to ANYTHING could be pretty, but that looks pretty snazzy. Good luck!

I also feel your pain about not being able to find something. I don't believe the internet fails me, per say, rather, I feel, like I'm insane and simply imagined whatever I saw/read/etc. Than I look like a jerk when I say "hey, let me show you this thing *twenty minutes surfing and searching* Oh...I guess it doesn't exist anymore...Wait, I could always try--*turns around and person is GONE* D: "

Let me tell you, it took some work to find some IT Crowd icons. And decent ones even more so. Hopefully there will be more made available when the 4th series airs.

The internet giveth and the internet taketh away ;_;

I am excited about my house projects, but ACen first! And, are you ready to graduate, missy?!

Psh, maybe I'm ready and maybe I'm not... I pre-ordered the stuuuuuupid cap and gown, so I guess I HAVE to go now, right?
