worthless libraries

I read the first book of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare: City of Bones. And like jennekohan said, it was pretty entertaining. It was an easy read and Clare developed some interesting characters and did a decent job of world-building. But, it's a YA novel she it really wasn't that challenging. I actually got a little distracted by the ( Read more... )

Are you a member of ebooks_crack? If I had to rely on local libraries I'd never get anything read. ):

LOL I AM NOW!

Honestly though, I don't know how much I'll use it. I hate to read anything of substantial length on a computer screen. You can't really curl up with a laptop and it's awful for your eyes.

You get used to it, really. It's no different from reading a long fanfic. :D

I don't read fanfic anymore! And I never really had patience for the long stuff anyway.

I think the fact that my day job involves me staring at text on a computer all day is part of the reason ebooks don't get me that excited.

I'm sort of on the fence when it comes to reading ebooks vs book books. With normal books i can't always get the latest ones i want so quickly but then ebooks, like you said, don't have that thing with the actual pages and curling up to read. Thankfully, my local library is pretty good for up-to-date stuff and if you ever want recs then i'm happy to help. XD

In general though, i'm having such a crappy reading block. The amount of books i've started and then not finished is amazing.

Also, damn you Wolfie. *goes to check out the comm too*

I'm so used to watching dramas on my PC (plus i'd never be able to watch them on the TV downstairs lol) but reading stuff can give me a headache at times.

OK. What genre/theme would you like recs on?

Yeah, I'm OK with dramas because I have to be. But if I lived in a perfect world I wouldn't have to use my laptop. It's got a decent screen though, so it's all good.

Hmmm, well like I said I'm kind of on a paranormal kick so if you have anything in that vein send it my way.

Besides that, I'll try anything!

That's too bad about the library! There are still good libraries some places, the three I am most familiar with are all wonderful to this day, in three different states. ♥ I hope you have better luck with another, if you try again, or reading through alternate venues! I find inter-library loan to be one of the best things in my life but that requires knowing what you want to read first.

I just requested a bunch of things through inter-library loan. It's difficult when there is just one copy of something for the entire city. And it's ever harder to find if it's over 10 years old. This is ridiculous.

Damn! Is there a statewide one available? When I can't find things with the Western Mass one there is a statewide one that usually has it, although it then takes longer to come in. I don't know, the Western Mass one is just awesome so I guess it depends where you live. That's sad, that yours is no good.
