Who's behind all these faces in the mist?

Sometimes I wish things had been different. Sometimes I wish I hadn't been betrayed by almost everyone I've ever known, and sometimes I wish I knew how to trust people and let go of the past. Some philosophers believe(d) that our self, or identity, comes from other people. What people project on us has effect on how we see ourselves. That doesn't mean we blindly become the way others view us, but it certainly plays its role at times. For instance, the child who is always praised, probably sees themselves as a decent self. The abused, neglected child is more likely to have a negative sense of self.

I don't know how much I buy into it, but it's interesting food for thought no doubt.

It makes me wonder if human beings wouldn't be better off left alone without any human interaction at all.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Personally, I really crave human interaction on a regular basis. I think I would go crazy without it! But silence and solitude are gifts sometimes, I definitely agree.
