Babies R Us + Jebus =??? WTF

Feb 10, 2008 11:46

So I went into Babies R Us friday night to pick up a roll of the border we are using in the baby room.  Yep we are doing a cheesy "ABC" border.  I was quite annoyed however to find that the border only went to E.  I'm going to be teaching my son the alphabet, and he's only going to know the first five letters.  That's ok....it was cute ( Read more... )

Uck. I hate that - Going into a store for something as mundane as socks and getting the church hymnal shouted to me. I do a lot of online shopping.

Here's a few with the whole alphabet if you've not yet put the paper up.

Well I already bought the paper and it's really freakin cute and matches my bedroom set. I know...I'm going to be one of "those" moms. I'm annoying myself already.

This is the set I'm doing (except I'm not buying all of the useless crap such as a diaper stacker). I mean who the frack would use a diaper stacker anyway? I don't see myself having time to be the perfect mom and stack all the diapers in a stupid hammock looking thing just to take them out and have my kid shit in them. ;)

I like the bold colors, but I've never been a huge fan of pastels.

I'm going to be one of "those" moms. I'm annoying myself already.

Just because it isn't what someone else might choose doesn't make it wrong. Don't worry too much about what other people think, it doesn't actually matter.

Your baby will be starting out wanted and loved. There are worse things that you could do.

Well I'm guessing someone did get the OK on the songs, they just got it from someone who liked the songs personally and didn't care.

Write a letter? Is it really THAT offensive?

I think it is offensive actually.
I wouldn't write a letter saying "oh you guys hate non-christians" but I would send a letter saying "Hey, why do you need to play those songs when there are many other neutral choices out there?"

I'm not going to quit shopping there because of it, and I wouldn't write a rude letter. I would just a letter saying "Hey this is offensive, because not everyone shopping here is christian, so maybe you should play more general music."

...and when I say letter, I mean email. I wouldn't go much further than that.

I know it would be an email...do anyone but little old ladies sit down and write actual letters to companies anymore? LOL My grandma used to do that...she was..quite, um, spirited. LOL.

I guess I am curious that if it would have been any other religion besides christian, would it have been offensive? Pagan? Muslim? Jewish?

And this comment:
"I wonder if the Babies R Us tape nazi is a dedicated, conservative Christian trying to get at "us" one song at a time."

Now THAT is offensive. I'm still waiting for that open-minded left to blow me away with their tolerance.

Maybe you should write an email to the manager of this journal and threaten to not buy anything here any more if she doesn't change her tune.

Geeze, Craftygeekette, why do you need to hold these personal opinions when there are many open-minded conservative choices out there?

HA! I said "open-minded conservative." I am a funny cheese.
