To Crack or Not To Crack

Mar 14, 2012 19:03

... That is the question! Are you unsure if your chosen pairing is really considered a crack ship or not? I know there are so many exceptions, what with all the subtext in canon. (Or was that fanon? Oh my.) So I've decided to try and ease your uncertainties. Note that the definition for "crack ship" in this community may be a bit different from the ( Read more... )

I'm thinking about joining this madness, but I want to know first if the pairing I'm planning on writing about counts as a crack pairing. It's a crossover pairing: Loki / Dawn Summers (Buffy: the Vampire Slayer) .

From my point of view, it's a crack pairing, especially because I'm still trying to figure out why I've suddenly decided to ship them....

It definitely counts! First of all, it's a crossover and so it isn't likely happening in canon. I also don't think it's a fandom favorite. And seeing as it's sort of random, it may not make sense to others. :)

Happy hunting! But just so you know, you can write up to three stories and there is a mini-bang option. :)

Okay, first of all, AWESOME CONCEPT. Second, I'm not sure if the pairing I am thinking counts, because....well, it's kind of complicated! Basically, I want to write a Homestuck pairing, but Homestuck involves four different types of romance. The characters I want to write are almost canon in one kind of romance. I want to put them into a different kind? This is a little weird, I guess...haha. Homestuck, why you gotta make romance so confusing. XD

For the record, I have never seen this pairing written in the particular type of romance I want to write it in.

Oh, and also, I did not see webcomics listed as a viable option to write from, so I was wondering if that was okay...?

Unfortunately, I'm not in the Homestuck fandom (which is definitely allowed for this challenge btw) but from what you've explained, your pairing seems to fit the bill. What I understand is that they are not exactly canon and if I take a 'romance' to be like a 'universe' then you're placing them in another universe where they are all the more unlikely to become a pairing, yes?

You have no idea how happy I am to see a big bang like this, I love crack pairings, I live on crack pairings except for a few canon/fandom ones most of my favourite pairings are very rarely written or never even been thought of. The muses are already plotting and I have three main ones, one I have never seen before which is Captain America/Ianto Jones and the other two only have a few stories written about them. I will be back on sigh up day. And I am so thankful to you for creating such a wonderful commuinty where crack pairings can get their time to shine.

Oh, thank you so much! But really, this challenge - no, this community is for all of us. All of us who, as you've said, want our crack/odd/rare pairings to shine. I imagine that this is exactly what fandom is for and I was surprised to find no one had tried this concept yet (or at least I think no one has tried it). So I'm happy enough that it has given you ideas to use. :)

Erm, ok :\ Do you happen to think that Draco/Ron would be a crack pairing or no? 'cause that's the only pairing that really comes to mind for me right now... y/n?

Oh, also may we choose crack pairings from anime/manga? If so... Reborn/Lambo from KHR? :o

...and uhm. X-Men: First Class - Alex/Hank?

;_; sorry for editing so much, am I spamming? :\

I would, too! I've seen it done before, but it's far from a popular ship.
